Several years ago when I began doing some fermenting, we bought a new fridge . . a full size fridge/freezer to be the “fermenting fridge”. Last week, Vince suggested we get another new fridge. His argument was that his mushroom plugs and spores were coming and they need to stay in the fridge til planted. My garlic needs to stay in the fridge til we plant it near the end of October.
We have the main fridge in the house. There’s a fridge/freezer, as well as an upright freezer, in the sewing room. There’s a fridge/freezer and two upright freezers in the shop. We do not need a new fridge. We actually need to get rid of a fridge.
Today I was in the shop to get something out of the fridge and this is what was sitting next to the regular sized fridge.
I did a double take. I said “You’re a new fridge!” When I went back in the house, I jokingly said “Vince, did you know there’s a new fridge in the shop?” He said “It isn’t new. I’ve had it for a while.” There was the box right there where he unpacked it! “A while” could mean an hour, 10 years or anything in between. I didn’t ask any further questions.
I looked inside.
It’s just a little fridge but it’s pretty much full of mushroom spores and plugs. I walked away smiling. It’s good to see that Vince is excited about his new hobby. Even if it is a “new” fridge, which it may or may not be “new”, it’s small and it’s something he thought we needed. I can live with that.
I don’t think the fridge is why he insisted I order yarn. There must be something else. I’ll be watching to see if I can figure it out.

It may be part of the reason he told you to order yarn…just not the whole reason…LOL

My first thought was, “THAT explains the yarn!” LOL

Mine too!! LOL

I don’t think so because the yarn probably cost more than the fridge. I think he has something else up his sleeve. Time will tell.

I use that “I’ve had it for a while” tactic sometimes. And sometimes add “It was such a GOOD sale”. LOL

Interesting. It looks like a dorm fridge. I guess the good thing is everything in the regular fridge won’t smell like mushrooms.

How funny! He is really serious about this! I hope it all works out for him.
