The raspberries and eggs will be done either late tonight or during the middle of the night so I’ll add drying time so they’re reading in the morning.
I think I forgot to show what I had in the last load.
There should be enough meatloaf in each jar for two meals for us. This is my second run of meatloaf. It’s very easy to rehydrate. I’ve learned that placing the freeze dried food in a bowl with a lid, pouring hot water over the food, putting the lid on and letting it sit, is the best way to rehydrate it. Anything with pasta seems to to take a bit longer. Meatloaf is totally rehydrated in about 5 minutes. Pasta casseroles can take about 10 minutes. If there’s excess water, I’ll drain it off, then heat the food up in skillet if I need to get rid of some of the liquid.
The grocery store had corn 5 ears for $1. This is 5 ears so one ear filled a half pint jar. Most of this corn will probably be eaten as a crunchy snack . . when my diet is over. I need to get more corn before the sale is over. Each tray in the freeze dryer will hold about 2-1/2 ears’ worth of cut corn so I can do 10 ears at a time.
I gave Vince a bit of the meatloaf and corn straight out of the freeze dryer. I said “If we were traveling and had Rita in the car and didn’t want to stop and eat, could you eat that?” I could . . it’s quite tasty! He said he’d be glad to eat that. We always need to drink lots of water when eating dried foods but freeze dried food is a great solution to meals when traveling with a dog you can’t leave in the car.
I do love that freeze dryer.

When we were making lots of 12 hour trips to Pagosa while the house was being built, we also made a 3 in 1 stop–gas, pee, eat (which meant grabbing something to eat in the car). If we’d had a dog, it would’ve been safe in the car because we were in and out of the rest stop in under 10 min! LOL Of course, having a dog would’ve meant walk the dog for potty purposes and a drink.

You are amassing enough information on this to write a book – in fact, I think you are writing it as you go! You might think about writing an article for one of the RV or travel magazines, or a prepper magazine. You write well, and you have information that would be helpful to all those groups.

I think it may have already paid for itself!
