While in MO, I tried to stay off the carbs but there was the sushi/rice, and there was a trip to Dairy Queen. We fixed foods that weren’t necessarily low carb but I didn’t do too badly. I actually only gained 1.25 pounds so that’s great.
I was a bit concerned about what I would eat while traveling. For the trip there, I had made lettuce wraps (lettuce, turkey and cheese), along with celery and almond butter. There were a few other things but for the trip home, I didn’t have any healthy snacks. I stopped at McDonald’s after I got into Oklahoma and got a piece of sausage.
It’s pretty good and it’s nice to have something warm (as opposed to a cold slice of turkey out of the cooler). The McDonald’s menu has a $1 sausage/cheese muffin so I just asked for that with no muffin or cheese. I can have cheese but I didn’t get it so I could eat the sausage held in a napkin while driving without getting a cheesy mess on everything.
For lunch, I stopped at a Braum’s and grabbed a grilled chicken salad. I knew if I ate it inside, I’d drink a Dr. Pepper so I brought it out to the car, sat in a shady spot and had water with my salad.
When we do go out to eat, I almost always drink a Dr. Pepper. I can drink our water at home but I’m so used to no chemicals in the water, most municipal water tastes weird to me. I had brought a big cup of water with me to our knitting group a couple of weeks ago and after drinking it all, I got a cup of water from the coffee shop, poured it over my ice, took one drink and almost couldn’t swallow it.
Back on the diet today!

No problem. If you never fall off the wagon some then the eyes don’t sparkle.

Congrats on doing so well while away from home for a couple of weeks! I know how hard it is to stick to a new eating habit (Don’t like to say “diet” – it seems to much like “Die” ing…. LOL ) Good luck on sticking with it till you accomplish your goals. And then being able to maintain the loss. That’s as hard as losing it in the first place!!

That’s pretty good control for being gone a couple of weeks. Vacationing is not the time to be severe about food, just being careful is good. I like McDonald’s sausage patties, too. I’m with you on water. So much of it tastes like it has dirt in it! Yes, I do know the taste of dirt. LOL. I have a filter on the fridge and a Brita on the counter, so most of my water is filtered or store bought – so spoiled!
