Since I’m the worst at finishing things, I told myself I was going to finish my August Camp Loopy project (which I haven’t touched since getting here), then work on some of the UFOs that I brought with me and, that is my plan, but at the rate I’m going, August is going to end before my Camp Loopy project is done.
It’s always seemed like it’s feast or famine with whatever I’m doing. I can remember years and years ago when I would want a new dress and couldn’t find one anywhere that I liked, then a few months later, there would be five or six dresses I wanted. Same with sewing patterns, shoes, etc. Quilt magazines . . I’d get them for months when I wanted to make everything in them and then for months that nothing seemed to interest me. I know .. it’s me but it is kinda funny when it happens.
For a while, I thought some self control had surfaced and I wasn’t going to buy so many patterns but . . I guess not. It must have been just a while that there were not many knitting patterns that excited me. That has changed recently.
These few patterns have jumped into my library the last few days:
- Floozy – A cute fingering weight cardigan that has slipped stitch “colorwork” instead of using several colors at once.
- Rogue or Storm – At least for now, it’s free. It’s part of the Sock Knitters’ Anonymous group. Heidi Nick’s patterns are usually not for beginners but they’re always gorgeous.
- Tangential Blues – This is another Carol Feller KAL. Did I finished the last one? No. Will that stop me from starting another one? No.
I have no idea what yarn I’ll use for the socks but I have plenty of solid or solid-ish yarns. Not concerned about that one. I know I have plenty of beads too – something will work.
For Tangential Blues, I would LOVE to use the Matisse Blue Rios that I bought recently.
The only problem . . and it’s a fairly big problem . . I have 7 skeins, which was all they had, and I need 9 for this project. ESK is out, The Loopy Ewe doesn’t have it either. I would have to order it from another shop, pay shipping because 2 skeins won’t qualify for free shipping. I’m too cheap to do it, especially when I have other yarns that will work . . and I do have other yarns that will work but I can’t go digging through the yarn til I get home. Another problem is that Malabrigo’s dyes can vary so much that they sometimes don’t even look like the same color. They dye in lots of 10. I could order 2 skeins from 5 different shops and get 5 totally different colored yarns. A little variation and I could alternate and pull it off but too much variation and it wouldn’t work. The pattern calls for Blue Moon Targhee Worsted which I like and I have some at home. So . . I’m not thinking much about that one. The first clue doesn’t even get released til October 27.
Floozy . . a different story. Miss Babs has kits. I ordered this one:
Sorry for the bad picture but I didn’t snag the original picture and since I got the last one of these kits, it disappeared from the website after I got it.
Looks like I need to add another year onto the 40 years I need to live to get all this yarn knitted up. At least I have enough toilet paper to get me through! 🙂

Hooray! I have the same problem with Rug Hooking and have projects running out of my ears, closet and shelving. You don’t want to know how many I’ve started and are waiting for the last loop to be pulled. We won’t even discuss binding them all! Yes, they will all be finished by December 31 because I Have A Plan.

I say enjoy your time with the kids. I live in th CA desert and love to knit but too hot to wear anything I knit. Judy, How much do you really wear. I would love a cowl, shawl or two but the would last me for years.. I quit, piece, make clothes, knit and do needlepoint too. I never need to wear more than a Columbia vest/jacket in the winter. We don’t go to many fancy dinners or get togethers anymore/ Everyone is in their 70’s or 80’s. They do not entertain anymore. We sill do some, not as much as we did before my heart attack. we will always have the kids and the grands. That is a given. We used to have dinners for 80-100 people. Pot luck and we bbq’d all the steak or chicken or veggies for the vegitarians. And, I need to lose weight. Vince and I need to get together on the heart issue. I am now 73, how old is Vince.
Just spend all the time with Addie, and her parents that you can. Sometimes it does not mean as much to our spouses. We are different than men. They do not understand girls/women.We have only had two grandchildren. Tyler is 21 and doing so well. In college and going forward. He still loves to come stay here overnight when he can. Kaitlin will be 13 this coming Sept. She is being bullied and this really upsets me because she was going to a Christian school. The parents of the other child will not meet with anyone at the school. Laura and Todd have asked for a meeting with them. She is going to leave the school they were so happy for her to be in, go back to a great public school system. I just want the best for her. I know how nasty girls can be…..I went thru it and it really hurt. I was bullied as well back in the 50’s and 60’s. It still hurts to this day and I am 73.
Just be there e for your darling granddaughter. I am and will continue to be there for mine. She is a sweetheart! Just love and support them!
We live 2 hours away from Kaitlin and Tyler. We are lucky. We spend lots of time with them. Their other grandparents have a retirement home here so we can spend all holidays together.x Judy, just hope you ca live within a few hours of getting to them. I don’t know if Vince ever had kids or grandkids, but it is different for women.
Love you, Addie, Vince, Chad and Nicole!

OMGosh you are so funny….I showed my husband the picture of all your toilet paper….his comment was WOW…that’s looks like a pallet load of paper….I just read him this post and he really laughed at the toilet paper comment and said they definitely have enough for at least that many years….
I’m also going to make the KAL I have yarn that will work and I like the sweater….I have never done a KAL….so this should be fun….

I bought Carol’s new KAL pattern too. I am planning on using the Targhee Worsted in my STASH. There may be hope for me yet.

I always click the link to the patterns you list (and its your fault if I get one!). When I went to Rogue or Storm, there was no picture. It looked more like a book or movie ad. Is it a secret? Of course I can be hopeless when it comes to technology
