Vince does a lot so I’m really not complaining but he’s oblivious to so many things. Rita never goes out without a leash. I’ve asked him to never take his eyes off her because of rattlesnakes. You absolutely cannot see them until you’re right up on them and they can strike quite a distance. For the past several years, most people are reporting that they are not rattling so seeing them before they strike is the best way to avoid them.
I had been out watering the foundation. He knew I had been watering the foundation because I asked him to turn the faucet off and he did.
He took Rita out and he came in carrying her, mud all over his shirt and Rita’s feet were muddy about 1″ up her leg.
Vince: She stepped in mud and her feet are all muddy.
Me: Was she on the leash?
Vince: Yes.
At that point, I wanted to say “Were you watching her and watching the ground?” but I knew the answer and there was nothing to be gained.
Vince: Do you want to wash her feet?
Me: I’m cooking dinner. You can do it.
He did it. I got up from eating, looked at the floor and thought . . WOW! Looks like her feet were really clean!
I cleaned the floor and was kicking my butt for not taking her and washing her feet myself.
Now I’m going to give her a bath and get those feet cleaned good. It’s’ not a big deal. I can’t remember the last time she had a bath. But, tell me how he came to this area, was watching her and didn’t see that it was muddy.
I see him when he’s out with her. He’s looking off into the wild blue yonder when he’s out there. But, my choice is (1) Take her out every time myself or (2) Let him do it his way and be happy he’s helping. I choose #2.

You just have to sigh and smile, don’t you?

At least it wasn’t meeting a snake…..I’d be already packed and moved if I saw even ONE.

Ohh, I forgot…
Bless his heart.

When my jr high students said they “forgot” homework or whatever I calmly asked if they forgot to eat or watch TV. “No”. It’s called being responsible for your actions no matter the age.

It can be raining/snowing and Emmi goes out, he lets her in and can’t understand how her feet could get the floor so muddy!! Men!!

That’s the choice we all have to make when asking someone else to do something. I drove me crazy when the boys were little, but I couldn’t redo it after, or it would mean there was no value to what they did. Sigh. You just can’t be everywhere and do everything!
