Oh, my goodness. The more I have to deal with “customer service” people, the more I want to find a nice, bug/critter free cave and crawl into it. Of course, it would have to have good lighting for my knitting so I guess I’d still have to have electricity so I might as well stay where I am.
We have to renew our electric contract. I already told you that! Vince usually does all that but I’ve been dealing with the electric company because we’re not getting credit for our excess generated power that we send back (solar panels). Vince said he would call them and talk about the contract renewal.
The lady Vince was talking to kept telling him that we switched to a different contract yesterday. NO! We did not! Neither of us called and switched it. Vince was telling her. She wouldn’t listen. Then she was talking about our bill. I had the bill up on my computer. Vince said “Here, talk to my wife. She’s the one who’s been dealing with all this.”
I started talking to her and I was trying to tell her that I was looking at the bill and what she was seeing wasn’t what I was seeing. She said “Why did YOU have to get on the phone? Your husband and I were doing just fine!”
I said “Is there someone else I could talk to?” and she said “Sure .. who would you like to speak to?”
I wanted to say “The trash can! It’s probably more knowledgeable and agreeable than you are!” but I didn’t say that.
I handed the phone back to Vince. He talked to her a while.
When I called back, I talked to a supervisor and explained that we had not renewed our contract. She saw that we had not. She said I had to talk to someone else. She transferred me. I talked to him about 5 minutes and he said he had to transfer me to someone else. That person talked to me, then put me on hold for 8 minutes and then transferred me to someone else who took all my info and then transferred me to someone else. Guess who! Yep . . the person who said “Why did you have to get on the phone?”
Between the two of us, we spent 1.5 hours on the phone and still do not have a contract. I think our next energy contract will be with a different company!
Vince said .. I think we need a beer. I think he’s right!

I agree with Vince!!!!!!! I spent 30 min on hold for an apt for an echo cardiogram. I finally hung up. That was very rude of that person to say that to you. Hope you get your electricity resolved quickly.

Hi Judy.. I have spent 4 1/2 months trying to get replacement parts for my lifetime guaranteed faucet in the kitchen. Most would have given up but I was determined. Finally today after 5 hours on 5 different occasions on the phone and 2 days of email complaints the new faucet set arrived. The soap dispenser is broken and the sprayer leaks. Exactly why I wanted replacement parts in the first place. Our counter is granite and has been drilled for this type of set up..the new ones don’t fit..but I have a plan..might not be a good one but it doesn’t have any more phone calls in it.

Oh, my gosh! I remember the original thing when you got the solar panels was sort of a run around, but why is it so difficult to just renew the contract? This is crazy insane.

I feel your pain. Nothing is ever easy. When it became available here about a week ago I upgraded our Internet from 5Mbps to 20Mbps. Of course, as current customers we couldn’t get free installation. Bummer. On the appointed morning for installation two techs showed up. Really? Two? Took about ten minutes and away they go. I kept checking the speed for a couple hours and it never got over 10Mbps. Tried the live chat and got disconnected when she had me reboot the radio. I had actually already done that along with rebooting the router and my laptop as well. So, started over with another chat session, had to explain it all over again & she starts me doing all this stuff on her script. Suddenly, poof!, she’s gone. Gave in & called. I’m pretty sure the guy I talked to had no idea what was wrong, but he tried. Put me on hold a couple times to talk to someone more knowledgeable & finally decided my little dish wasn’t properly aligned & set up an appointment for a week later to have a tech come look at it. Around supper time, out of the blue, a woman from the company called me & said she thought they had it fixed. Something entered wrong on my account, which is what I thought it might be all along. Checked the speed & it was OK & has been ever since. Whew! there went an hour & a half of my life I’ll never get back. Makes me wonder though how many people don’t know they can check their speed and aren’t getting what they are paying for. Good luck with your electric contract.
