Thank you readers who suggested the Tile Tracking Device. You folks need to tell me everything that I need because I had no idea those things existed. Just the other day I was telling my friend that I needed some kind of system where I could put a tracking device on everything I own and be able to call up any item and have it buzz or beep or something so I could find it.
I have ordered the combo pack with 2 Sport and 2 Style and one pack of adhesives. Of course, they haven’t arrived yet and I seriously doubt I know what I’m talking about but for anyone else who loses things, you might want to check into it.
The first thing I think is that I don’t have to actually put a device on my phone but I can ring my phone, even if it’s on silent, by pushing any of the tracking devices or by using the app on my computer/tablet.
Second, the Android phones only support 4 tracking devices but I believe you can have more than 4 and have some of them not active but you can switch around just so you only have 4 active at once. I need 100.
Here’s what I plan to do with my four.
- Ipod – not sure which one – probably the bigger one and I’ll just keep the smaller new one in the kitchen. Right! Who wants to guess how long before I lose that one?
- Purse – I can’t tell you how many times I run outside in the middle of the night to be sure I haven’t left my purse in the car.
- Keys – Maybe. I’m really not bad about losing my keys – mainly because I never go anywhere.
- Ipad – Not sure about this one.
I wish I could put them on all my tablets. I understand the complexity (not really but I do understand they’re complex) but I want one for EVERYTHING! I wish I could put one in all my knitting project bags and on the app I could say something like “Blue bag with Winterfell project” or “Pink bag with lime green socks”. Then I could go right to the bag I need and not be digging through 20 (or more) bags looking for a certain project. I wish I could put one on all my gizmos and gadgets. I wish I could put one on the tub with my cookie molds . . IF I ever find those darned things.
At least four times, I almost put my credit card info in and hit “purchase” and then talked myself out of it but in the end, I thought about how much time I spend looking for stuff and I pushed the button!
Without a doubt, Vince is not going to be happy that I purchased these things . . the budget! My sanity and the time I spend searching for things has to be worth something, right?
I did read the ratings and I found that there were quite a few complaints, mostly about battery life. Some of those may have been older complaints (I didn’t pay that much attention) and I believe they have improved the battery life. The batteries are guaranteed to last a year from date of activation and they have a “re-tile” program where you can replace them every year at a slightly reduced charge. I’m so anxious to try these.
Again, thanks to those of you who told me about them. I don’t get out much so really, I have no idea what’s out there unless someone tells me.

My issue with the two tracking devices I’ve tried is I can’t hear them. I’m half deaf and anything that is at a higher decibel I can’t hear. So the tracking is up to me!! UGH

I’m so glad people mentioned these. I wanted to, but couldn’t think of the name. You keep great track of yarn purchaes. Have you considered doing the same with your projects? You could track the project name, needles, and bag description. It would help you in your search for the project(s) you need when preparing for trips by logging on to the iPad you just found using the tile app. :o)

Don’t forget the cost of replacing lost items! There’s savings against the cost of the device.
I have a specific place for my purse. If you don’t want to go out in the nighttime to look for it, maybe you could hang it on the door handle!
