Anything that I don’t use almost every day and heat/dirt won’t ruin, I store upstairs in the shop.
Some of it is good stuff, some it isn’t so great. We got used to having basements and having room for everything. There are all kinds of different pots and pans, baking dishes, extra FoodSaver bags, meat grinders . . just everything I don’t keep in my kitchen. There are two extra FoodSavers up there. Ours seem to always go out when we have a whole lot of stuff to process so we keep at least one backup.
There are even two extra small dehydrators up there.
There’s lamp oil, a sauce maker, a humidifier, two Nesco roasters, crocks . . there are some real treasures up there.
About two weeks ago, I was up there looking for something and I saw my spiralizer. I smiled, thinking how much I use that thing in the summer so much because I spiralize all the zucchini, pumpkins and everything else that gets too big in the garden. I freeze it and then on super hot days, I throw it out to the chickens as a cold treat. Then, it gets stuck back in the box and I hardly use it in the winter.
The spiralizer I use is one of the less expensive ones. It has three blades but does everything I need it to do.
Yesterday when I wanted to spiral slice the zucchini, I went to the shop, and searched and searched and could not find it. I knew I had seen it up there. I thought maybe I had seen it in the house and not in the shop. I went through all the cabinets where I thought it might be. I thought maybe I had put in the sewing room closet so I went through that. Nope. I was getting pretty frustrated because Vince was still aggravated about the iPod so I didn’t dare tell him . . Oops! Change of plans! Can’t find the spiralizer.
I said . . I’m going back upstairs one more time and searching. Then I remembered it was in the area with all my canning supplies. I guess I put it away when I put the canners away last year. At least I found it because I was already thinking that I’d just have to order another one if I couldn’t find that one.

And to think I feel bad about having a corner cupboard full of excess “stuff”. It will be interesting to follow your progress if you end up moving! An 18 wheeler might be involved! Ha…
