There will still be one more photo after it’s blocked but the binding is done, the ends are all woven in and it’s ready for blocking.
This is the picture I used for inspiration and I think it’s a great match. Even the rug at my uncle’s kinda plays into the whole matching process.
It will be so gorgeous after blocking. This is one of those “never give up” lessons. I struggled first with my knitting being too loose and ripped it all the way back after having finished Clue #2, which was about halfway through the project. I decided my yarn #2 was too busy for the pattern and that there wasn’t enough contrast between Color #3 and Color #2 so ripping back was my only choice if I was going to love this project.
I started over with different yarn and smaller needles.
Next, I was back down to the bottom of Clue #2 and one needle separated from the cable and a bunch of lace fell off the cable. That is so hard to pick back up correctly. I had a lifeline but it was at the beginning of the lace and I would had to have ripped back about 6 rows. Another 4 rows would get me to a spot where I didn’t pick up on a color change so I ripped back 10 rows total. At the time, I wasn’t sure it was worth it, nor was I sure I’d be able to catch up and finish anywhere near the end of this mystery . . but I knitted way into the night a couple of nights and it’s done an I’m so happy with it.
It will look so much different blocked. I will soak and block it as soon as I get home.
I almost always love the projects I’ve just finished but I’m so in love with this one.

This might be my favorite of your knitting projects. I love the colors you chose.

Right now I’m thinking it’s my favorite project but I probably say that about all of them.

I was just looking at all the finished shawls on Ravelry, and yours is just as pretty, if not more so than the others. All the color combinations, I like how people chose an impressionist painting and matched the colors. Can’t wait to see yours blocked.
Judy Laquidara says
My painting wasn’t really an “impressionist” painting but I loved the Irises so went with that. Thanks!
