When I first started thinning the peaches (or plums or apples), I’d take off a few. Then a few days later, I’d take off a few more. I understand the reasoning behind it but I’ll never enjoy doing it.
Yesterday I walked by one of the peach trees that I thought I had thinned everything out that needed to go and there were more. As the peaches get bigger, it’s easier to see more than are too crowded.
It hurts to break off those bigger peaches! I want them all to grow and ripen and be sweet and juicy but I know the thinning is what helps them get big, and juicy and sweet so I make myself do it . . but it’s sad!

I don’t suppose the chickens could or would eat those green ones, either! I can testify what happens when you don’t do this, but you already know anyway. =)

I have the same issues with our peach tree. Glad to know I’m not the only one who feels this way about thinning them out.
