A fig!
Actually, two figs!
There are probably more but I didn’t spend too much time looking.
Every year I start looking for figs and think I’ve found them but they turn out to be leaf buds that open into leaves instead of forming figs but these figs are really figs! This is the tree that produces smaller figs that are sweet as candy. It’s always very late putting on leaves and produces few figs but the figs are so good that I put up with it being a poor performer. This year, it was the first to add leves and now, it’s the first to produce figs. I hope that means it will provide me with lots of sweet figs this year.
It’s so exciting to watch the new fruit form and know that in a few months, I ‘ll be eating more figs than I should be eating.

I dearly love figs. I can’t find them fresh anywhere here. I think my tree died the winter (the 2nd one in a row). I’m so happy for you that yours are alive and giving you figs.

Wonderful! I need to get those Irises for you and bring them Tuesday. I will get you those other bulbs as well.

I buy dried figs at the grocery store, but I’ve never had a fresh one. I can only imagine how wonderful they would be. Maybe some day I’ll be in the right place to get to have a fresh one…
