Vince took off work today. The first thought through my head when he told me he was taking off was . . did I order any yarn? I think the answer is no but I’ve kinda lost track of what might be coming. I knew I had some things coming from Amazon. The UPS truck pulled up, Vince went running out . . which means he thought something was for him. Four boxes . . small boxes. He opened the first one.
It was scrubbers for my cast iron pots. My plastic scrubbers are old. I had four and I’m down to 2 and they’re about worn out so I ordered more, along with a new chainmail scrubber.
Nothing in Box #1 for Vince so . . he opened Box #2.
My pot holders are torn and ragged, as are my dish towels. I use the heck out of my kitchen stuff and it had been several years since I got new dish towels so . . I ordered new ones.
Nothing in Box #2 for Vince and by now he’s grumbling . . how much stuff (not the word he used) did you buy? I’m saying . . but it’s not yarn! 🙂
So . . he opened Box #3.
Oh, my . . that set off a fire storm. How many pie pans do you have? How many pie pans do you need? Well . . the truth is . . I have way too many pie pans. If ever you need to bake a dozen pies at the same time, call me. I have the pie pans you need! But, all of mine have flat bottoms. I’ll do a blog post later about a non-flat bottom pie pan.
So, poor Vince. Do you feel bad for him? So far . . three boxes and nothing for him. On to Box #4.
I have a cold pack for my knee but not a hot pack and since I need to be alternating, I ordered this one that can be either.
Four boxes and according to Vince, not one thing in it for him but the way I see it:
- He eats what I cook in those cast iron pots;
- He uses the dishes I dry with the dish towels (and never has to do any clean up!)
- He will eat more pie out of the pie pan than I will
- Any time he needs a hot or cold pack, he can use that one.
In reality, it’s all for both of us so he should be happy, don’t you think? Thanks .. I’ll tell him you said so! 🙂

Makes perfect sense to me?

I get such a kick out of your stories, especially when it comes to Vince and your online ordering. Sounds like some of the conversations my husband and I have. Anytime I can order online, especially if it costs less, I do it. I like to stay home too.

The last time I bought kitchen towels was a few years ago. I got them at Costco. They came 10 in a package, so I got a couple for me and one for each of my daughters. They’ve held up very well. I look forward to your pie pan review. I’ve never seen one with ridges.

YES! Everything you got is for both of you!! Happy Thanksgiving Judy & Vince!

I like your reasoning! Everything that’s been delivered here lately is for Christmas gifts. I like the shopping done pretty much by Thanksgiving and I really don’t like schlepping through store after store looking for what I want to get. My old body doesn’t take to that any more and the nearest place with a variety of stores is a 120 mi. round trip….+ dodging the insane drivers always in a hurry to get wherever. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Maybe you should wrap them up for his Christmas present.

I want to know how you like that chain mail for cleaning your skillets. Currently I use a paper towel and kosher salt. Sometimes I need something more.

The last time I got new dish towels was when I got married. . . .12 years ago.
I think your reasoning is absolutely correct. He gets a benefit out of everything. . . .plus it was not yarn. . . .so he has no room for grumbling!

OMG this is too funny, now Vince is sure you get something everyday when he is at work! Each item is perfectly bought for community use! Maybe he could have 1 or 2 rags for his work area, no as he would take all. When he has a bad knee he will be happy for the warm wrap!! Sometimes you could almost feel bad for the thoughts in his head!! So what did he order that did no arrive?? Love him!
Rebecca in SoCal says
I definitely agree with you! Things that you use to make life better for him are not “your” things. (As many women who have gotten appliances as gifts will attest.)
Now…is Vince really eager for something he ordered, or is he trying to hide something from you? 😉
Carol says
love the USA pans! I don’t have the pie pan, tho, but I’m sure it’s as wonderful as the others. Will look forward to your review.

You think like I do. Scary as it is. Tell Vince we are on your side on this. You made perfect sense. He just couldn’t see the bigger picture. HUGS, Vince.

Why yes Judy you are right !!!! Happy Thanksgiving !!
Penny in CA says
Actually I don’t understand Vince’s concern? There wasn’t anything that could be considered personally for you in the four boxes plus not even one skein of yarn!! Perhaps boxes with those type items/household should be specifically addressed to Vince! Happy Thanksgiving!

I think you have it figured out just right! ?

Absolutely!! 🙂
