If you’ve never lived where there was so little rain and where it’s so hard to keep anything alive – grass, fruit trees, vegetables, to trying to keep bird baths filled and tubs with water for the wildlife . . you’ll never know how much rain is appreciated. Having grown up and lived most of my young adult life in southwest Louisiana, where it rains almost every day, I had heard about droughts and knew how devastating they could be but really didn’t grasp the difficulty of living in an area that never gets enough rain. I’ll never look at rain the same way again. I’ll always appreciate it and hopefully, if I ever live where there’s too much rain, I’ll be able to appreciate that there are places that would give so much to have an abundance of rain.
When I left physical therapy today, I had about a 20 mile trip home but I stopped at Aldi, stopped to fill up the car with gas and came home.
As I was l leaving physical therapy, the sky was very dark. As I was putting my groceries in the car in town, the sky was even darker. As I was leaving from getting gas, a few raindrops fell on my car.
I got home and this is what the sky looked like. I hurried and put the groceries in the shop fridge, ran to the house to let the dogs out, planned to go get eggs but the rain got here before I made it to the chicken coop. It was a heavy drizzle. Hopefully there’s more for us but I the towns to our west and north got heavy rains.

I hope but our local guys are saying our chances of rain are good but we’re not expecting much . . probably less than an inch.

We’re like that here too. We count every drop and are thankful for it. Sometimes I worry that folks get tired of reading my blog posts about rain, or lack thereof, on my blog, but they are blog worthy in my world. I’ve never seen it this green here. Our girl just got back from Hawaii and she said we were as green as they are.Sending rain prayers your way!

We haven’t had rain in weeks. As of the news at 6:30 pm, we can expect 15-20 inches between Friday and Wednesday.

I remember a number of years ago when we got flooding in the garage and had to clean out the drain in the driveway. I don’t think I appreciated the rain then, but have sworn never to complain about too much (here). Then again, when you get rain, you get measurable amounts! I was so excited earlier this year when the rain was in tenths, not hundredths, of inches!
