The Kathmandu swatch is done.
As always, the lighting causes the color to be way off. The swatch isn’t exact but it’s close enough. It’s just a sweater and if it doesn’t fit me, Nicole will love it.
Here’s a funny story. Nicole has never liked purple. When I first met her, I don’t know what we were talking about but she told me emphatically that she did not like purple. I think it has something to do with her deep dislike for grapes or anything grape flavored. Somehow along the way, since Addie was old enough to talk, she has declared that her mommy’s favorite color is purple. Despite Nicole’s gently explaining to her that her favorite color was not purple, persistent little Addie is determined that Nicole’s favorite color is purple.
When they were here, we were doing something and Addie said “Give Mommy purple. It’s her FAVORITE color!” Nicole said “Oh, yeah?” and Addie said “Yes!” and just kept going. Nicole admitted that Addie has almost convinced her that purple is her favorite color.
Anyway . . the swatch didn’t turn out as “wooly” and thick as I thought it would. I wish the yarn was 100% wool but it isn’t, it’s here and it’s what I’m going to use!
The shawl isn’t finished and but surely by the middle of the day tomorrow, it will be finished . . if I can keep myself on track and not go chasing some crazy idea . . like making cinnamon rolls, which thought keeps running through my head.
