First, this post is not meant to be political – it has totally and absolutely nothing to do with politics so please . . PLEASE . . do not make it about politics!
I can remember two times before today when I heard a song on the radio that just stopped me in my tracks. The first was Tim McGraw & Faith Hill’s “It’s Your Love“. Vince was living in Kentucky. I was still in Lake Charles. I was flying out of the Lafayette, LA airport to Kentucky and I was driving to the airport when I heard that song for the first time. I couldn’t stop thinking about it and when I got to Kentucky, I told Vince “You have to hear this song!” We played it over and over that weekend and I still love it.
The second song was Joey & Rory’s “That’s Important to Me“. That song just sums up what’s important to me.
Today, on the way to Discount Tire, I had the radio on in the car and for the first time, I heard Thomas Rhett’s “Be a Light“. It isn’t a new song but I don’t have the radio on that much. That link is to a youtube video of the song. The lyrics are here. I keep listening to those words and thinking if we all taught this to our children and grandchildren, what a difference the world would be. There ain’t that much difference between you and me but we seem to have lost the ability to agree to disagree. It’s one way or the other – no in between; no listening . . just talking and screaming.
When you do somebody wrong, make it right! I think we’ve also lost our ability to ever see that we’re wrong. We’re always right . . the other person is wrong.
That song really has me thinking about a few things in my own life.
How I wish I had this Bose surround sound hooked up, had a CD player and the CD. I’d have this song playing all day!

Unfortunately it sums up todays world. Thanks for posting that.

I bet you. could play it on Pandora or Spotify. I certainly agree with the sentiments. I’m so tired of the divisiveness we see these days.

There is a project called “The Violet Protest” that is trying to exemplify working together. They are soliciting textile squares with about even amounts of blue and red (to make violet). They plan to mail them to everyone in Congress. There are a lot of core values on their home page, starting with “Respect for One Another.”
(I thought this was neutral enough to pass.)

That sounds like a very good song. I think things are changing now and maybe things will get better for all.

That song is thought provoking. It definitely brings tears to my eyes, to think what if. The other song with simular meaning and effect to me is “Imagine” by John Lennon.

Yes! That one too. I did have tears when I heard “Be a Light” yesterday but figured since everything makes me cry these days, I’d not share that little bit of info so folks don’t start thinking I’m going nuts.

Thank you! I love that it’s a Mesa, AZ, community pictured. It makes me want to buy a bucket of chalk, gather the children from around the neighborhood and put hearts everywhere!

Really!

You posting this gave me a bit of a wow feeling. I live on the other side of the world than you on a little island at the bottom of Australia and I don’t know you in real life except from what I read on your lovely blog. But the first time I heard this song I thought to myself Judy would like this song. I don’t know why I thought that to myself but I am so glad you heard it.
Kind regards
Kellie

Oh, my! Isn’t it weird how you don’t REALLY know me and yet you knew how I would feel about that song. I listened to it on the computer last night over and over again. Thank you for sending me this note!

Thanks for leading me to this song. My heart has been so heavy lately ….this reminds me to keep having hope. I so enjoy your posts and recipe sharing, it’s a calming part of my day. Absolutely LOVE your new home too. Hang in there with the unpacking, it’ll be done before you know it. Blessings to you all.

Thank you! Yes, and so long as I don’t feel like I have to get it all done NOW, it isn’t bad. I’m finding treasures I had forgotten about in the things Vince packed.
