A while back we got info from our insurance company about Doctor on Demand. I signed up for it but never thought much about it. The cedar pollen gets me every year. I looked back at my medical records and from January 15 to February 6, I’ve been to the doctor with sinus/ear/allergy issues every year for the past four years. Thursday when my friend and I were sewing, I kept thinking .. Thursday is the day they’re usually the least cray at the walk in clinic but I didn’t go. Then Friday, I kept thinking .. this is the last day my favorite doctor will be there til Tuesday and I still didn’t go. Last night I went to bed at 7:30 p.m. and slept til 9 this morning. I never do that unless I’m sick.
This afternoon Vince said .. you’re not going to get better til you get meds. I told him I hate to go to the clinic because so many people are there with the flu. He said “What about Doctor on Demand?” Oh, I forgot about them. Grabbed the iPad, signed on and within 10 minutes I had talked to the doctor, called the pharmacy to see what time they close and they already had my prescription.
I was pretty impressed and will definitely use them again. Don’t take my word for it but check their website . . I think the “office visit” is $49 if your insurance doesn’t pay. Of course, I wouldn’t use them for anything major and I don’t think they will try to treat you for anything other than minor and routine type illnesses. There’s a list on their website of what they will treat. But, when it’s flu season and the clinics are full of sick people, it was great to be able to use them for a sinus issue.

You never cease to amaze me Judy–what a fantastic idea–Doctors on Demand–I went and looked at their website after I saw your Facebook post. I have a new insurance this year with a $3500 deductible–you can bet I will be using Doctors on Demand!

Our insurance sent us info about virtual doctor visits a few months ago. We just have a $20 copay to use it, which is a whole lot cheaper than the doctor’s office or walk in clinic. I’ve used them twice already. It was great and I would use it again in a minute for any minor ailment. I did end up having to followup with my own doctor twice for one thing because it didn’t get better and I had to have more aggressive treatment. My husband and I both came down with a cold on New Year’s Eve and while we are feeling better, we are both still coughing pretty bad, and having chills and sweats, although no fever, so it’s likely turned into bronchitis or pneumonia. We talked about doing another virtual visit, but we’re probably both going to need chest x-rays so we opted to see our regular doctor this week. Seems like since we had grandchildren, we get sick a lot more than we used to. I hope we build up an immunity to those bugs eventually!! ,
