There are so many new patterns on Ravelry that I want to make. Lamina Wrap isn’t brand new .. came out in May .. but I really want to make it.
If you go to Ambah’s project page, she has all the yarns listed that she used. I don’t want to use the exact same yarns she did . . or maybe I do! Half the fun should be collecting yarns. Since finding the pattern, I’ve been saving the sock yarn leftovers, as well as looking at my sock drawer and wondering where the leftovers are for some of the projects. My sock projects tend to use the brighter “in your face” yarns.
The lace sections each use 25 yarns and I suppose some of them could be used more than once. It might be fun to make a Lamina Wrap every year from that year’s sock yarn projects, but adding neutral yarns for the garter sections. Maybe I should make it a project for every other year. 25 pairs of socks in one year is possible but that would be all I was knitting. (And you know how badly we need warm sweaters here in Texas!).
There are several sock drawers but you can see that most of the yarns I’ve used won’t work well with a Lamina Wrap. I’ll have to pay more attention to any sock yarn I might buy in the future. Not saying I will buy yarn . . just saying IF I buy more yarn! 🙂
Just for the record . . the boxes to the right of the dresser might contain yarn . . not sock yarn but other yarn. On the other hand, there could be cans of peas and carrots in those boxes! You never know. My guess is on the yarn! 🙂
Seriously, expect to see some boring colors for socks soon so the leftovers can be made into a Lamina Wrap.

Ask people to donate their leftovers!

I’d rather have leftovers from my own projects.

That wrap is really pretty. I’ll be waiting to see the colors you eventually choose!

I think it would be more fun to use the leftover yarn you already have. Make it your personal wrap, not Ambah’s. Squinting my eyes at the photo of your sock drawer . . . It looks good to me!

Ohhh, that’s such a pretty shawl/wrap. LOVE it!! It’s going to be beautiful when you’re done!

Love that pattern… think I would do it narrower as a scarf… and I have a TON of leftover sock yarn… don’t really need to start another project but the temptation is strong… thanks for showing this one… I think…LOL

I keep going back and forth between wanting to make that pattern and wanting to make Torquata. Or maybe it should be which one I should make FIRST. 🙂

Just saw this post. Since I’ve started to make Scrappy Socks via Carolfun’s ideas, I think you should use your leftover “in your face” sock yarns for some Frankensocks if they are too bright for your Lamina wrap project. If not, you know where you could send them to be put to good use. lol
