The pattern for Kirkstall Mitts has been released and is available here. I did a test knit for these and have been finished for quite a while but was waiting to share them til the pattern was released.
They’re made with DK weight yarn and I knitted them both in one day. I love that the cuff can stay long or be folded down.
When I first began knitting mittens, I couldn’t understand why anyone would want fingerless mitts . . it’s my fingers that are always cold! But after wearing the, I hardly ever wear gloves or full mittens any more. It’s so “useful” to have my fingers able to do what fingers do. I guess because so much of my hand is covered and my wrist is covered, I hardly notice my fingers getting cold but . . cold in central Texas isn’t COLD like some places. I definitely see the value in fingerless mitts and those are my favorites to make now.

I may have to try a pair of fingerless mitts – I never have because I thought it odd that the part that actually gets cold, isn’t covered. I do like the textured design on these.
