One of the ladies in my local knitting group has a bunch of little zipper bags They’re so useful so many things and she was saying how easy they are. She emailed me the link for the zipper bag tutorial at Noodlehead. There’s quite a bit of interesting, fun stuff at Noodlehead so, when you have a minute, head on over there and check it out.
Every time I see my friend, she says “Did you make a zipper bag yet?” and my answer is always NO! I was going to see her today so Sunday, I said to myself . . go find a zipper! Any size zipper! So I went digging through the sewing room. I new there were some somewhere. Don’t ask me what I planned to make but I have about a dozen 7″ zippers. I found one 12″ and a couple that were larger. I decided to play around with a 7″ zipper and it could be for Addie (hence the cat fabric).
When you go to Noodlehead’s page, you’ll see most of the zippers have a “tail” on them with a little fabric “square”. My friend said getting that little square right was the hardest part. Fine . . I don’t need a little square on mine! I made mine kinda different . . it seemed like wasted space to have that zipper sticking out like that. Maybe they open up wider with the zipper hanging off but I don’t mind it like I made it.
I used the only interfacing I could find and it’s pretty stiff. I bought some lighter interfacing at Walmart yesterday. It’s probably too light but . . we’ll see. I decided this one is more crisp than Addie would like so I’ll make her another one. I was thinking I’d grab some Halloween fabric and stuff it full of Halloween trinkets and send that to her in her October package.
I ordered some zipper pulls and I also watched a YouTube video on how to make zipper pulls. I was thinking it would be cute to make some for Addie’s backpack . . so she could change them throughout the seasons or whatever mood strikes her. Another hobby . . zipper pulls! 🙂
Also, I ordered 25 assorted (translation: No idea what colors are coming) 12″ zippers so I’ll soon be ready for some bag making!

It’ll be like getting 2 gifts in 1! She’ll love it! I’ve made lots of the drawstring bags, but never a zipper one Don’t even know if I have a zipper lying around anymore. Gotta do some digging! That usually gets me into trouble, because I find all kinds of treasures I had forgotten about.

I love the bags on Noodlehead and have made a number of them. So glad to see you are getting in a sewing mood.

So cute. I haven’t made this one yet but I’ve been eyeing up the Trail Tote pattern and think I may need to make on of those.
