I need to try to get a decent picture of Cat. I think you’ll be surprised at how pretty he/she has gotten. Eating decent food and having fresh water has helped her coat. She’s still an ugly cat but if you don’t look at her face, she doesn’t look bat at all. She has weird eyes and a weird mouth but anyway . . she continues to leave little gifts for us.
Most often, she leaves mice on the porch. I’m the first one out in the mornings and I’m learning to look for my surprises, which make me squeal . . no matter how many times I find them, and no matter how much I tell myself “Don’t be surprised at what’s out there waiting!”
Thursday afternoon Vince and I were walking outside, just off the porch and Vince saw the mouse before I did. I swear . . I would have stepped right on it if he hadn’t said anything.
He grabbed a clothespin off the line, picked the mouse up with it and threw out the mouse and the clothespin.
I have a feeling I’m never going to get used to finding Cat’s gifts but I guess I’m thankful for every mouse or snake that Cat takes out .. just wish she didn’t feel the need to share them with us.

It’s her way to say thank you for all you have done for her.

Nice!! She’s bringing you gifts; she has accepted you as her family. I’d MUCH rather see a dead mouse than a live one…especially after our own recent rat issue.

Cat likes you! Or else she thinks you look hungry and she’s trying to help you get enough to eat. 🙂 And maybe she just wants you to know she’s on the job and you should keep the food & water coming. Who knows what goes on in a cat’s head.

When I first moved to Arizona from Boston, I was living with my cousins on 5 acres of land where they had horses. They also had 5 large dogs. One of them, a Weimaraner, used to kill mice and prairie dogs from the barn and corral area and bring them into the house. She was just so proud of her hunting skills. I remember the day my cousins walked into their bedroom and found a dead mouse in the middle of their bed. The dog was standing there wagging her tail as fast as she could – she was so excited to show off her gift! Be thankful Cat doesn’t get into your house!

Probably before I was even around we had a cat named smokey. The folks had a small bungalow out in the country and Mom would leave the bedroom window open a little so Smokey could come and go as she pleased. Many times Smokey would bring her present to Mom while she was still in bed! I understand tho the funniest was when Smokey jumped from. The window to the bed scarring the devil out of my Aunt!

she’s doing a good job as a mouser.
(and that looks like a very fat mouse!)

At least it’s mice and snakes. My cat brings chipmunks, birds and baby squirrels. I’d just as soon he leave the birds and squirrels alone. I know he’s doing his job and showing his appreciation but sometimes I wish he wasn’t so good at it. LOL. I never know what will be on the mat at the back door. He’s cleaned up our area so now he’s working on the neighbor’s yard.

Cat is doing a good job and thanking you for food and water.I’m sorry is scares you each time. It isn’t something you get use to. I find it strange they don’t eat them or snakes just leave them for us as presents. Maybe they are giving the best gift they can give to us humans.
Just think one less mouse in the garage, car, or craft-room. Yeppie

We had 2 cats that used to use the doggie door to come in and out of the house. They would bring in mice, bunnies, worms, and birds and leave them for us. Sometimes they brought a live mouse or bunny into the house to “play with” during the night. I much preferred it when they left their presents on the porch or the deck rather than in the middle of the kitchen floor!! Cat is just showing off his hunting skills and thanking you for all you do for him!!

Cats think humans are just really dumb cats that can’t take care of themselves so they bring us “treats”. I too, have to look on the porch or deck before walking out as often there are dead voles waiting for me. It also means you are part of her family and since you can’t feed yourself she is “helping”. Welcome to the family!

Mine has a cat door. Plus, less litter to clean, catching the mice I hate, minus, presents. And mine likes to bring hers in and eat them under our bed. Woke me up with her “crunching” last night…This “habit” did not change when we were gone for 2 weeks either, and when I got home, not “all” of them were eaten. Gross. Had to clean them up today. Love her, but she is old, and when she is gone, we won’t get another. But it is tempting. They are nice to have around….

Years ago my mother’s cat, Mrs. Grey, would leave her night’s catch lined up neatly on the front porch. When Mom got up to make Dad’s breakfast the first thing she would do was open the door, look over the catch and say “Thank you but I don’t need anything this morning.” By the time she’d finished breakfast dishes the gifts at the door were disappeared and the day could go forward.
