People do weird things. I guess some day someone will live here and will wonder about some of the things we did but . . the people who built our place had to clear the woods to make the driveways and build the buildings. They cut the trees and left the stumps. Some of the stumps are tall enough that they were just a nuisance. Some were short enough that my poor toes were always injured.
I go out to let the chickens out just about daylight. I’m half asleep. Everything is brown . . brown dirt, brown leaves, brown snakes, brown spiders, brown stumps . . I know where every stump is located but still . . at least two mornings per week, I stub my toe on one of those stumps. Even if I don’t have on flip flops, I still about break my neck.
We’re always “gonna rent a stump grinder” but there’s just so many things to be done around here. The other day our neighbor had rented one and he was done and had more time left so he brought it over and Vince got rid of most of the stumps.
Any time someone was outside with me, I was saying “watch out for the stumps”.
Between our house and the neighbor’s house, we cut through the woods and there was a whole clump of stumps that we tried to avoid and ended up scraping up against a cedar tree so Vince ground down those stumps too and .. he whacked off half that cedar tree.
Some day . . we’re going to get everything done around here . . if we live to be 200 years old!

I know it’s expensive to have stumps ground and that’s probably one reason a lot of folks don’t do it. But I always think it just looks bad and every time I need to have a tree removed (3 since being here), I always have the stumps ground. So much nicer and neater!!

Totally worth it to prevent injuries. You’ve got enough to worry about with snakes and scorpions to have to put up with tripping over stumps.

and we still have the one palm tree stump left in the back yard (they couldnt get the grinder in thru our gates) that should have disintegrated by now – but still hasnt. I hate palm trees (except the ones that produce dates which I love!)……..I always say they are God’s joke on us…..
