Yes, I said I wasn’t going to do Camp Loopy this year. It’s so hard to find knitting time in the summer and I end up knowing I need to be working in the garden and by July and August, knowing I need to be canning . . but wanting so badly to be knitting and working on my camp projects. As soon as Sheri posted the Camp Loopy theme, there was no holding back . . I had to do it. I texted Nicole and said “Read The Loopy Ewe’s blog!” so she’s doing it with me.
The theme this year is safari and for our first project, it has to use at least 400 yards and it has to be “I spy” — something we might spy on a safari. Details are here.
Quilters . . don’t forget there’s a quilting camp too and those details are here!
Nicole is making Laura Aylor’s Cinnamon Toast and she’s using Madelinetosh Pashmina in the Forestry color. The color reminds her of a bird – maybe a peacock.
I am making Pamuya, which has been on my to do list for a long time, and I’m using Handmaiden Sea Silk in Rainforest. Of course you might see a rainforest if you’re headed through Africa on a safari!
Camp Loopy is always fun and even if I don’t finish all three projects, and I’ll probably figure out a way to get them all done, at least I get a 15% discount on the yarn I buy and the interactions on Ravelry with other campers is always fun.
Check it out . . knitters and quilters alike . . you can even do both if you’re feeling very inspired!

I also told myself I was going to sit out camp this year but I ordered my yarn and fabric last night. Oops. 🙂

It is just too hard to not do it. I’d rather try and not finish than not try at all but . . I’d rather finish! Good luck getting two things done.

I jsut so wanted the tshirt and the lion that I couldnt think of anything very interesting……so I am just going to do some zebra socks (black and white striped)…..next time hopefully I will find the pattern for the sweater I want to make my g’daughter….I know I saved it somewhere – but where!

I definitely thought about doing socks. I could use some new socks, and probably will wish I had done simple basic socks but Pamuya won out!

I did both camps last year (total insanity) so decided I was only going to do Fabric Safari this year since I’ve got a spring/summer sweater I want to keep knitting on. Two fabric orders have been placed since I ordered fabric yesterday without having a true plan and then spent the last four or five hours in EQ coming up with a plan (which needed a tad bit more fabric).

Okay, Judy, I am on the slippery slope of Camp Loopy! Decided to do the quilt one and use up a piece of African animal print I got from who knows where the other year! I did need another color to go with it (only one!) but ended up with a sizable order anyway! Maybe I will reknit that Raverly pattern from last fall and make it a bit larger (the cowl/shaw one). Got some stash yarn so will probably not sign it up as a project for camp!
