The second day in a row that a whole lot of time was spent in the sewing room. A lot of time was spent on the computer tweaking a quilt design. Not only is Boots a great helper when cleaning the stash closet but he’s a whiz at EQ.
If anyone is wondering . . it was about 2 p.m. and yes, I still had on my pajamas and guess what . . it’s almost 9 p.m. now and I still have on my pajamas but as soon as I finish this, I’m going to take a much needed shower, wash my hair and put on clean pajamas because I smell just a tad bit like a skunk!
Don’t go getting all animal rightsy on me because we do kill animals but we have raccoons that wait til dark and then try their best to get in the chicken coops. They would kill every chicken in there. We had been diligent about keeping the traps set and baited but when Rita was running around loose, we stopped setting them. One day last week, I was out by one of the coops and it looked like there had been a critter party out there. There were so many tracks! We set the traps and when I go out to let the chickens out in the morning, the first thing I do is peek at the traps. Even though I know once they’re in there, they can’t get me, I don’t want to get anywhere near them. They hiss and snarl and think they can get me.
But this morning since Vince was off, he let the chicken out and he takes a different route from what I take and he never passed the traps. I had not been out there at all and this afternoon he came to the sewing room and said . . get your camera! I knew it was too early for a beautiful sunset but . . I did as instructed and this is what I found.
They will also kill the chickens if they can get to them. There are plenty of them around here. Sometimes I walk out the door and just know there’s one within inches of me because of the strong odor but I’ve never seen one except on the trail cams. We knew it was eventually going to happen . . one was going to get in the trap . . but we still didn’t know what to do with him. He knew exactly what to do and he sprayed and sprayed and I think he finally emptied his tank. The odor up close is nauseating. We finally got him taken care of and we were both glad to have that task done. It still smells outside but it’s drizzling rain so hopefully that will wash away the stink.
A Meyer Lemon Cheesecake just came out of the pressure cooker. This is for the UPS guy. He was telling me he loves cheesecake so I asked him if he wanted pumpkin or lemon and he chose lemon so tomorrow, he will get this.
And here’s a sneak peak at the design I’ve been working on. There will be a full blog post about it in a day or so.
I’m actually anxious to get started on it so I’m real hopeful that 2015 will be the year I’ll get back in the sewing room.

How is your lemon tree doing? How about a picture?

Having had chickens, acreage and skunks….along with four to five dogs at any one time, I have plenty of skunk stories. And, also an unbelievable way to dispatch them once they are in the live trap! Fun and games!

Of course Boots is a whiz at EQ – that’s probably all he does when you’re not in the sewing room with him – LOL! Merry Christmas, Judy!

Do you have a recipe for the lemon cheesecake (pressure cooker style) that you are able to share????

If you’re getting excited about getting back in the sewing room, you will definitely do it! Remember when Boots was just a tiny little thing … and now he covers your whole lap! Still Cute Kitty, though.

It makes me smile to see Boots settled in so nicely!
Sorry about the skunk in the trap. You must have had a hint the minute you opened the door. Thank goodness for some rain!
