Or . . not!
I know this happens to you! Tell me that it does! Your gut tells you something and you don’t listen and then you’re kicking your own rear end for not listening to that gut feeling. Right? It’s happened to you? Every time I tell myself . . next time, I’m going to pay more attention to my nagging “don’t go there” thoughts.
I had gone a lot farther than this on Laura’s test knit. That’s the first skein of yarn and I had finished the 2nd skein and was fixing to tie on the 3rd skein. Now . . this is what it looks like.
The problem isn’t with the pattern. Here’s the problem: The pattern says the gauge should be 16 stitches/4 inches and size 9 needles are recommended. It’s Aran weight yarn. I got kind of a bigger, looser stitch with size 9 and it was about 16.5 stitches/4″. With size 8 needles, I got about 15.5 stitches/4 inches so I decided to go with the size 9 needles. This is a yarn I’ve never used and it seems to want to stretch a little so by the time I was finished with the first skein of yarn, I was wishing I had used size 8 needles. I kept going with the size 9 needles though. Once the sleeves were separated from the body, I put it on the body form and it was not good! Ripped it all out and started over with size 8 needles. I knew that’s what I should have used to start with . . but didn’t do it!

Been there, done that….doesn’t it just irritate you?

I rip out quite often. Makes my husband crazy, but I just tell him that I know I wouldn’t be happy with it if I didn’t take it out and start over.
I LOVE your stash! Wish I had the room for one like that. I do have a nice stash, but some is here, some is there. I need to get organized and get it all in one place. So nice to be able to go to what I already have and not have to shop for more, especially when in the middle of a project and the stores aren’t open. Although, that doesn’t stop me from shopping for fabric!

Been there and done that all to often and not just with knitting! We all need to trust our gut instincts more. Oh yes, love your stash organization, was too tired last night to comment. I have a long way to go to be as organized. Maybe in my next life!!!!!

I’ve been there too. Although usually my project ends up being smaller, not larger. :0(
