This may be too much information for some but so many of you have called, sent cards, prayed, emailed and overall, you’ve shown me that you care and I appreciate it all so much.
It’s hard for me to believe that I am so healthy and so energetic and the last two months, I’ve been on my rear end, feeling terrible. The incident with my eye happened on July 3 and I was worried about that right up until the kidney stones started on July 12, with the first surgery on July 22 and the second surgery August 26 .. it’s just been a rough two months for us.
This morning I had the KUB (x-ray of kidney and all its parts) and there were stone fragments remaining but the stent has caused enough bladder irritation that the doctor thought it wise to remove it so we’ll see what happens now. I go back in 2 weeks to have another KUB and see the doctor again and hopefully, at that time, I will be stonefree completely.
The doctor is having stone fragments analyzed and once everything is good, we’ll do a 24 hour urine capture test and maybe, hopefully, be able to get some guidance on what to do, other than drinking tons of water, to keep from having them again.
I hope to get my strength back and my energy level up and be back to my old, energetic self very soon.
Thanks again to all who have reached out and have been praying for me.

I pretty much assumed that you had the second surgery. At least you are through the worst of it with the stent removal. Just take it easy and you’ll soon be back to normal. Hugs!!

You have had your share and then some with health issues! And you thought the Texas “critters” were a problem! You are probably ready to say bring on the snakes!

Here’s hoping it’s at an end for you. Hasn’t been a great YEAR for us so far. In February my husband was diagnosed with Stage IV of a very rare type of cancer. The good news is that even though it was stage 4, which is usually not survivable, his doctors think that he is cured, which is even rarer. In April I suffered a nerve injury and my right hand is numb or burning, not a good thing since I make my living typing, and my daughter in law suffered a miscarriage. The good news is she’s pregnant again and we are expecting a grandson in the new year. In July, we lost my nephew to an accidental drug overdose, a real tragedy, I developed inflammation of my eyes and have failed 2 courses of antibiotics and 6 weeks of steroid drops and still trying to clear it up. My usually well controlled diabetes suddenly went out of control and I’m having very low blood sugars, despite adjustments to my medication and my diet, usually during work, which means I’ve missed a lot of work. The good news is, my boss has been pretty understanding. And last week my brother, who is a disabled veteran and for whom I am legal guardian, rolled a lawn tractor over on himself and broke his back. The good news is, he’s not paralyzed and will recover.
I keep wondering what I did to piss off the powers that be, LOL, but I know that it’s just life. Good things happen, bad things happen, and you just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep on going. Even when things are terrible, there are plenty of things to be thankful for, and I am. One of those things is you … since I enjoy your blog so much. Some days, it’s the bright spot in my day!!
I’m so glad you’re feeling better.

Terri – sending hugs and prayers your way! LOTS of them! Sounds like you’ve had a year and a half in the last few months! God willing all will be smooth sailing from now on.

Terri … That is my motto … just put one foot in front of the other and pretty soon you will find your self in another place. I don’t know you but I am soooo sorry for all that has befallen you and your family. I hope you all find better days ahead.

Judy – why didn’t you tell me kidney stones were catching! LOL (I know they aren’t but within VERY short order after your July surgery, I had to go in for the same surgery. TG – no stints! HOWEVER I still have fragments – but they are tiny enough that the Dr. thinks they will pass all by themselves. Still – I am on a 6 month schedule – and he will check again to see if I’ve “hatched” some new kidney stones! Ugh!
And – of course – while under the sedative – mostly because the “relaxing” medication allowed me to talk my head off! – the suspected bradycardia may have become for real! For sure – all that water I drink – entirely TOO MUCH! – flushed the potassium out of my system and I was really almost in a lot of trouble! However – one of my meds has now been discontinued (YAY!) and I could rapidly come to hate bananas and greens – all of which are high sources of potassium – along with tomato sauce!
All’s well now – TG! And – Judy – still keeping you in prayers that you continue feeling better and better!

Wow, I am getting that catching thing, not for me but for my daughter. Pretty scary. She had to have emergency surgery to remove her Gall Bladder and then they were going to take out the kidney stones, but she stopped breathing on the operating table and so they did both surgeries at once. Then they thought she had stones in her Liver…they wanted to send her by ambulance to San Fran for a specialist to check her because she has had bariatric bypass surgery and so they thought she needed the specialist. She didn’t want to go, I told her she had to. She said she was going home, she’s 46, so she went home. that was Monday. Today she texted me she is back in the hospital. She has stones still and she has pancreatitis. She is diabetic, as am I . I am praying for her. I just worry she is not taking good care of herself. I just can’t lose her, I don’t think I could take it. I lost a close friend to Pancreatic Cancer and that is all I can think of right now. I am going to California next week so I hope I can visit her. I’m going down with my cousin, who has been visiting me. I hope we can drive up from LA to Antioch ( the Bay Area) to visit.
Things were going well in her life and then Bam all these things started happening.
Sorry about the rant. I am sure glad you are getting better. Your writing does brighten my day 🙂

Judy,
It is good to hear from you I was beginning to worry some. We miss you and your post but understand you’ve felt bad. You’ve always got so much going on in your life and for you to have to slow down isn’t fun. I can just imagine what each day must be like at your house. Seeing everything that you want to do much less need to do. You will be back to yourself soon so just sit back and knit and watch the world go by for a change. Take care of yourself and smell the roses as the old saying goes. We’ll still be here cheering you on always.
xxxooo,

I’m praying that all goes well. I have never had kidney stones, but I understand they are very painful. You have been in my thoughts and prayers and will continue to pray. Have you had anymore issues with your eyes?
Linda says
I’m amazed at all you’ve been through, Judy. I’ve had two little slivery stones in my lifetime and thought I was going to die each time. Kidney stones cause some really horrible pain. I should be drinking a lot more water than I do, and I’m glad you remind me to behave myself every now and then. I hope you get relief from those awful stones.

Have been out of touch for a bit, but am glad to hear that you are on the mend with your kidney stones and eye problems. I have a long list of people on my prayer list these days (have to write them down to remember them all). Hope you improve quickly and get back to your normal routines soon. You are a bright spot in my life too.
