You’ve figured out by now that the blocks are being set on point. The September/October instructions kinda run together a bit but nothing is hard for the next two months.
The first thing you need to do is arrange your blocks in a pleasing manner for you. I chose to stick the two darker blocks in the center and work around them.
You will need to add the sashing. The sashing strips are cut 2-1/2″ x 12-1/2″. These will be from the background fabric (Fabric 1) and you will need 48 of them.
You will sew the sashing strips to sashing squares. Along the outer edge of the top, there are triangles from Fabric 2. You will need 14 of these little triangles and to get them, cut 4″ squares and cut those on the diagonal twice to yield 4 triangles from each square.
For the sashing squares, use Fabric 5 and cut 15 – 2-1/2″ squares. (In the drawing below, it’s hard to see that the sashing squares and triangles on the edges are different but if you look at the photo taken from my design wall, it’s easier to see.
For September, you only need to sew the blocks into rows and the sashing rows but you do not need to sew it all together to complete the center of the top. That’s for October. If you end up wanting to do it all, you can . . but you don’t have to.
If your January through August blocks are done, please share a picture. On Friday, September 5, I will draw for the winner . . who will receive a Stash Pack from Vicki Welsh’s Etsy Shop. When you need (or want) hand dyed fabric, please remember Vicki . . who sponsors this Mystery.

Running very behind!!! Our son got married in Aug & now our daughter is getting married in a couple of weeks! Pulled an all nighter to get these done so I wouldn’t be too far behind & will probably do the same with this months task 🙂 Gotta keep up or it will become a WIP & I don’t need anymore of those!!!!!!
