This may not seem funny to you but things like this happen to me all the time.
I’m stitching MH 1860 by Needlework Press on Vikki Clayton’s new linen. I have had her silk conversion for a while. The third row of letters calls for Wisconsin Woods by Classic Colorworks and the DMC conversion is 3042.

I grabbed my messy little box of floss and there was no Wisconsin Woods listed. I checked Vikki’s website and it looks like she missed that one. She has a “knowledge base” on her website and all the DMC colors are listed along with their conversion to her silks. I found that DMC 3042 is the sub for Wisconsin Woods and I found that Vikki’s Mauve 1439 should be about the same.
I have pretty much all of her silks but both dogs were asleep on my lap and they had probably been asleep enough they would want to play and be crazy. I was looking at the chart and deciding if I wanted to skip down to another section and I remembered that I had a little packet of her floss in the drawer next to where I sit.
For a long time, I got Vikki’s monthly selection of floss. She would send it in a plastic sealed bag. As soon as it came in, I would open them, put the bobbins in the larger containers where I have the floss assorted by color but . . there’s been one bag sitting next to my chair for months. I stopped getting her monthly selections because I was accumulating a LOT of floss. I thought maybe, just maybe, there would be a color that would work in that bag. I didn’t care if it was mauve . . just something that would work.
Do you know where I’m going with this? Mauve 1439 was in that bag. I think there were 10 bobbins in there and that was one of them. I grabbed it, opened it up and thought it was kinda light for my fabric.

It’s actually the one on the right. I thought . . often in those monthly packets, Vikki will include several shades of one color. Yep, three shades of mauve/purple. I ended up using the middle one, which is Mauve 1441.
Isn’t that weird? That’s the only bag of floss that isn’t in the larger storage bins and it had just what I needed.
