Folks, this package has caused me to lose sleep. Not really but almost. I know some of you think I spend a lot of money on yarn but it’s a skein here and a skein there and never any massive amounts at one time except when I bought yarn to make Agata. Even after clicking “buy”, I kept thinking I shouldn’t have done it. But the sweater is so pretty and the yarn makes it . . and it was done so . . it was done. I kept watching the tracking info and it was supposed to be here on the 19th. You can imagine how I felt when I looked at the tracking info on the 18th and saw that it was in Puerto Rico. I kept thinking it was a mistake . . the same tracking number had been issued to another package and mine would get here as scheduled on the 19th. Nope, didn’t happen.
I called the post office customer service number. What an experience that was! The conversation, after an amazingly long hold time went something like this.
P.O. Lady: Yes, the package appears to be in Puerto Rico.
Me: What happens next?
P.O. Lady: You WILL get your package!
Me: Do you have any idea when?
P.O. Lady: No. If you’ll give me your phone number, I’ll have someone call you back.
Me: (Gave my phone number) Do you have any idea it will be before someone calls me back.
P.O. Lady: There are a lot of calls. Most likely, you won’t get a call back! But you will get your package!
That was so comforting. So, on the 19th, 20th, 21st, I kept watching the tracking info. Nothing changed. May package was probably drinking rum on the beach in Puerto Rico.
Then I decided that once the package misses its arrival date, maybe they just stop updating the page.
But, I just checked and my package is in Abilene which means it will be here tomorrow. That package has given me a whole lot of frustration!
I must get busy knitting my next project so I can do the next project and then the next project will be Agata.

It is arriving right on time – after the weekend (when Vince is home!). I once sent a quilt from Canada – registered, etc. and it got lost in customs and then finally delivered six MONTHS later. The post office told me they are only responsible for the package within the country it was shipped from, but after it crosses any border – they have no control and are not responsible and actually can’t check where it is. Really! So, why do they encourage you to put all kinds of tracking info on it anyway?

Wow, well, I hope it doesn’t look like it’s been mauled by a drunken sailor when it reaches you {{cheesy grin}} hehe.

What a stubborn little package! I’m glad it’s showing Abilene now, and hope you see it tomorrow!

Gee, I wish I had been in the package with your yarn. I would love to have gone to Puerto Rico for a short vacation. See if it has tan lines when it arrves 🙂

I hope it brings you a nice souvenir of it’s visit — not some tropical nasty like a spider or anything – but perhaps a nice cocktail with an umbrella in it! Of all the nerve to go traveling first!

You may want to give the sweater a new name to commemorate the wayward yarn!
Good to see that it’s nearby at last.

Whew, glad to see that it’s at least in Texas now!
