This morning Boots will be taken to the vet and . . a little snip, snip. All you cat lovers are saying “told you so!” but that little cat is so entertaining, and at the same time, several times a day, I say to myself “Why on earth did we let this kitten into our lives?” He looks so cute and innocent.
Wrong! Looks are deceiving! He has more energy than any one kitten should have. Up the design wall . . up the roll of batting . . under the sofa, racing down the longarm, bouncing on the quilt loaded on the longarm.
A quilt was on the back of the sofa, fell off and . . now it’s a kitty tunnel.
Then he found the box that has my Comfort & Joy project . .
He’s looking at me like . . “Do you have a problem?”
Then . . about the time I’m threatening to stick him outside in the heat, I look over and see this:
He had been sleeping in my chair. I love a sleeping kitty . . a wild, crazy kitty . . not so much! It is good to see him having a lot of energy and feeling great. Just hoping his “surgery” goes well today.

Ask the Vet tech to show you how to cut his nails. When you keep them short and blunt, he will do less damage to you and your stuff.
JudyL says
I did clip them and that’s helping with the amount of scratches I’m getting but still not stopping him from climbing everything in the sewing room.

We let a kitty into our lives about 2 years ago and when she was small I would swear we had a herd of kitties and not just one! She has outgrown most of her playfulness but loves to play with the pull off plastic thingy on a milk carton lid.
JudyL says
I’m kinda looking forward to him outgrowing the wild and crazy kitty stage.

Yes is the reason I had to have mine declawed. He was tearing up everything including the wood work on the doors. Due to other cats outside coming up I guess. We had him 22 years and the last 3 he had to have insulin shots. But he was a good loving black kitty…Thanks for the memories your post bring back to me when ours was young many years ago now.
JudyL says
Boots is mostly an outside kitty so we can’t declaw him but if he doesn’t calm down just a little when in the sewing room, he may not get to come in much.

I have a 10 month old. She goes and goes and goes then naps. When she was younger she spent lots of time bouncing off everything (including the other cats). She’s starting to calm down now. Once Boots can go outside some of that energy will go away.
JudyL says
He stays outside except when he comes into the sewing room. He had not been in since Friday when I let him in yesterday (Tuesday). He’s just an energetic, inquisitive little kitty.

With a cat around you can never be bored, or blue.. they are pretty good at making you smile. (even if there are times I get mad a mine..kinda like our other kids.)
JudyL says
Really! When he’s inside, if I don’t see him for a few minutes, I have to go see what he’s gotten into. He never runs out of things to investigate.

I’m loving your posts about Boots. Miss my girls SO much, and want another kitty. Max would be fine with one, he loved Skirts-kitty before she died, but I’m just not sure about Gabby.
Boots will do fine after his surgery. You’ll just have to “try” to keep him calm for a bit. Enjoy!

Kittens are wild asses for the first year or so, and love to climb anything. You don’t have to spend a lot to make a great cat tree so he will stay off things and not scratch the furniture. I made one with a 6′ 4by4 post, put 1×6 feet on it for stability and then 3 small plywood shelves with brackets. leave a good 3′ before the first shelf, cats like to stretch to scratch and the commercial made ones are too short. That’s why cats like the back of chairs! then staple carpet remnants around the post and on the shelves. He will love hanging off the top shelf like a lion in a tree and having that when he is young, he will not start scratching on other things. Although I cant think of any cat that wouldn’t think a roll of batting is just perfect for climbing and snuggling in. That’s their nature and you have to either allow for it, (keep plastic on the roll or in the closet) or just enjoy the joy all the energy and affection he will give you. And cat hair just increases the thread count of the fabric! So glad you got a kitty, you will wonder a year from now how you lived without one. Cheers!

I can empathize with you! our little Luna is at the vet today for the SAME thing – she is also gettinf declawed. I miss her already. I LOVE watching her play and all the antics except when she tried to climb up my back while I was sewing the other day and when she wants to attack my feet when I’m trying to sleep! I know she missed out on eating this morning too – hope all goes well with Boots.

Judy! I love that you have a ,it tie in the house…however…when kitties are kittens they are a pain, you know where! Well a helpful and non violent tip…fill a water bottle , or several with water and whenever kittie is misbehaving give him a little squirt…he will run away swearing you have attempted to kill him, then be your friend in two-three minutes! They are terribly forgiving…anyway, we have two kitties after having two kitties for almost 22 years….and I was beside myself with their antics …so DH remembered the water bottle solution, thankfully, I now call it my gun and use it thought infrequently now. And, LOL!, it does not need water in it, simply the sheer sound of the trigger being pulled sends “the boys” to the next room! Enjoy your baby, especially when he is sleeping…

Judy, please forgive my typos!

Judy, you’ve met your match. Love reading all the help you are being offered. As a dog person, I feel I can’t com mit, but he sure is cute and his snip, snip may calm him down.

Boots will bring you a lot of “comfort and joy”!

Here’s a hint for kitty “entertainment”. Just lay a big paper grocery sack on the floor and watch what happens. It might keep Boots out of your project boxes.

Judy – that look isn’t ‘do you have a problem?’ it’s ‘hey! How nice of you to line this box with fabric for me.’ ;D Kitties love boxes, especially when there’s fabric or freshly washed anything in them!
