With orders from The Loopy Ewe, I’ve learned that if my orders are shipped on Wednesday, they’re going to be delivered on Saturday and Vince will know I got more yarn. Before anyone suggests sending my yarn to the neighbor’s house or getting a Post Office box, Vince just likes to give me a hard time. He doesn’t really care. This is all in fun . . me trying to sneak yarn into the house.
Last week I ordered on Monday night, knowing my order would go out on Tuesday. On Friday I anxiously awaited a visit from the mail lady. A package arrived but it was for Vince. I said “Are you sure there’s not one for me?” Nope . . nothing! I checked the tracking, which through the USPS is pretty non-informative. My package was in some town where it never goes when coming from The Loopy Ewe. It stayed there for a day or so but the weird thing is . . I just looked at the tracking info to get the name of that town and all that information is gone. From looking at the info available now, it looks like it left The Loopy Ewe and didn’t take any detours.
But my Box of Fun must’ve had just a bit too much fun.
Maybe someone saw that “Box of Fun” sticker and decided to see just what kind of fun was in there! Unless they were a knitter, I’m guessing they were pretty disappointed.
The box had been completely ripped in the middle and taped shut. The mail lady had me open it to be sure all the contents were there and they were.
When the box of fun is having too much fun while I’m sitting here waiting for it to arrive . . that’s just not right, is it?

no not right at ALL!

Maybe it went to the Super Bowl to party on Bourbon Street!

My last package that traveled USPS looked like it had been to a paintball party. I tear my hair with them. At least your delivery person sounds like she is nice. I spend the extra $$ for UPS. It gets here, tucked in the back door, by a really cute guy (he’s extra!)

And it’s just the opposite here. The USPS has been very reliable with mail carriers that will jump through hoops, climb the fence (really!) and try to get in touch with us when they have a package. UPS on the other hand . . we’ve had some real issues with them here, though we’ve had excellent service from UPS in the past, just not here.
Claudia says
Like anything else, it is the attitude of the person I think.
Talking about the UPS/USPS link, there is a service (and I can’t think of the name) that the UPS transports USPS packages, leaves them at the post office and the post office delivers to your home. I’ve seen it done here where I live. The USPS does not have planes that move things exclusively for them, but rely on the commercial airlines for “air mail”. UPS and FedEx have their own planes strictly dedicated to package delivery at the price you choose. Guess USPS doesn’t have a woman-in-charge. ;}

Hiya!!! I’ve had companies use FedEx to deliver packages to my post office box. I’ve always gotten them quickly and in great condition. Blessed be, hugs!!!

So glad it arrived and nothing was missing! But FPS – what in the heck did they do with the poor thing?

Hi Judy,
I’m thinking of trying to knit some socks. Can you reccomend a pattern to start with.
Also what size needles would I need .I think I may have to visit the Loopey Ewe site for some yarn.
Glad all your yarn was still safely tucked in your box when it finally arrived.
JudyL says
Kim, Great! I hope you will try knitting socks. I obviously love doing it.
I’ve discussed several times which patterns/needles, etc. that I use. Please use the search bar on the right sidebar and you will find more info than you ever needed or wanted! 🙂

Nope, our boxes of fun definitely should NOT be having fun without us!!! Isn’t it funny how the USPS’s mistakes disappear from the tracking?

UPS takes all my packages to the post office and is delivered the next day by my mail carrier. It’s completely silly and insane that they do that because they drive right past my house to get it there! I’m home all of the time so no chance I won’t be home. I think the post office and UPS has a financial deal here to help keep our post office open. Where I live there are three burroughs back to back and the post offices for each one are all within 10 miles of each other. It’s a crazy system, but my mail gets to me super fast.

That is so funny! I bet some lonely guy decided to take the chance and open your package in the hopes that it would bring him some excitement. LOL

most of my quilts are appliqued by hand but before I give it to the lucky person I have chosen I wash it and dry it in the dryer. When it come out I inspect it with a fine tooth comb to make sure all is still secure,if not I repair it then and there.I just love the look of hand applique and hand quilting. Dana in La.

I bet the mail carrier was excited to finally get a chance to see what you get in these “boxes of fun!”
Glad all was well with your shipment!

In my family, we love, love our UPS guy – or the old one. He got re-assigned to a different route – we are all so sad. Still see him around though, but it isn’t the same. About shipping – when I have things shipped to Austria I always write Austria, EUROPE or else the box goes first to Australia. Talk about a box having “fun” – poor thing arrives hardly looking like a square box anymore. At least yarn is not fragile! Cheers! Evelyn
