I got a late start for Day 2. With it getting daylight after 7 a.m., that puts me so late getting things done. I don’t want to shower or work in the kitchen til after I deal with the chickens.
The pattern I posted yesterday did not include the size for the flying geese, I have added that info. I had to change the link so the new link is in yesterday’s post. But, they are 2′ x 4″ finished or 2-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ unfinished. Thank you folks for pointing that out.
Like yesterday, I will update this post with my accomplishments for the day. Instead of trying to get all the flying geese done, like I had hoped to do, I’m going to make 40 more today and then sew together a few blocks. That breaks up the monotony of sewing the flying geese a bit, though I love to make all the components before sewing blocks. Yesterday I was about to give up before I saw how pretty the block is and how quickly it goes together.
8:50 a.m. – The sewing begins for me!
Noon – 48 Flying Geese are made. Lunch break!
4:30 p.m. – Long lunch break, huh? I put up 13 quarts of spiced apple rings. Now I hope to sew for an hour or so before time to finish up dinner.
8:00 p.m. – Day 2 has ended for me.
I had hoped to get one yellow block done but I didn’t get that far. I got all 6 of the red/yellow nine patches done and I got 56 more flying geese done. I’ll be back at the sewing room as soon as I can in the morning.

Me too! I was up at 6am for my morning sneezing fit, took my meds…made coffee…and have started back on quilting my quilt. So many ideas going through my head…need to get these sewing areas together…and couple of customer quilts waiting..lol.

Argh is it ithe later sunlight, or the cooler weather? I just can’t seem to wake up. I sat at the table this AM for 30 min, and could not wake up. Even when the coffee was ready I jsut sat there.
Had to get a move on bc I had a yoga class to go to at 9:30. That got my blood flowing. Maybe I need to hit the floor in the AM w some Sun Salutations….get the bllod to the brain moves.

sounds like we’re all sleeping in these days. i was up at 7 this AM. I’m taking it easy this sew-along; just making a quilt top with HST’s out of some 1900’s era prints and conversation pieces. So far i’ve gotten 80 HST’s sewn for the quilt. Taking a lunch break, and then on to pressing and sorting into rows.
Assembly line starts tomorrow!

Yesterday I finished quilting and bound the second quilt for DGS that was due Wednesday. Today I am making the label for it. I need to make a gift for a swap but need to test the pattern first. I have baked 6 small loaves of bluebery coffee cake, 8 small loaves of cinnamon nut bread and a big pan of butterscotch brownies. Still have to make 4-5 small loaves of pumpkin nut bread.
Have a great day everyone.

no sewing for me today as I am on a roll of organizing, tossing and sending fabric elsewhere to be used. I may try and get the binding on one of my quilts so i can hand sew it on Sunday while watching a football game with Dad but that will be about it. It’s fun tho to see what everyonde else is accomplishing.

worked a bit last night and got the block setting figured out and the HST blocks divided into 8 stacks. I’m doing the diamond setting with the quilt divided into quarters, and all the HST’s pointed towards the center of the quilt. it will be 8 rows across and 10 blocks in each vertical row.
if you happen to have a copy of the book “Strip Tubing” by Daniela Stout and Georgette Dell’orco (Cozy Quilt Designs) the setting is in color on page 14, top left.
