Not once did I walk into the sewing room today so I should have had plenty of knitting time. I went to the dentist, took my Kindle, hoped to read a few minutes but before I ever sat down in the waiting room, they called me back. From there I went to Wal-Mart, then Kroger, then home, then baked pumpkin gingerbread, then dealt with several issues that took up way too much of my time and well . . just aggravated the heck out of me but it ate into my knitting time. Then we had a little neighborhood get together and here it is . . almost bed time and I hardly knitted any today, but I did make a little progress.
Tomorrow I hope to at least get down to the heel. There’s quilting that needs to be done too . . we’ll see what kind of knitting report I have tomorrow evening.

Those will be some really cute socks!! I didn’t get much done today either, but I DID sew for about half an hour for the first time in about two weeks. It felt GOOD!!!

I am coming right along on mine….only had to start over twice but that is just because with size 3 needles and CO 56 using Opal yarn made the sock SO LARGE that I could have slippped BOTH legs through the opening. LOL. My guage tends to be large no matter what I do. I started over with CO 44 and they are still large (maybe I should have used size 2 needles but the Yankee Sock Pattern doesn’t give instructions for DK weight yarn.) I am so happy though to see something that looks like a sock that I am going to keep going and I will try to SHRINK them when I am finished!!! Please tell me that this is possible! 🙂 I am so happy that I am actually doing this!!!

Shirley – I’m afraid it’s going to be hard to shrink your Opal socks. That’s one of the things I love about that yarn – it takes abuse – put in washer and dryer and they come out looking the same as they went in.

Judy if you weren’t busy baking (my that bread looked great!) and being a social butterfly, that sock would be done. LOL
I “might” be able to finish my first sock today, maybe. And I have the next two days off but hopefully will spend lots of time in my sewing room.

Not one stitch was knitted on my socks — maybe today will be better. I love the colors inside the circles.

I just love the colors – AND I love the pattern!!! Haven’t started learning to knit yet – maybe later this winter I’ll put it on my project list. Sure want to and definitely drool every time I see the different socks everyone knitted!!!

I am such a slow knitter, plus I stop working on things for Months. my goal for Socktober is to just finish the sock I’ve been making for a yr (no lie)! I’m on the toe so it shouldn’t be long. Then it will be on to a sweater shawl that I’m sure I will need this winter.
Diana Purdy says
Judy, are you knitting with one yarn, or do you change off with solid colors? The solid colors look like they are being framed by the varigated colors. I guess you can tell I’m not a kniiter so I have no idea, but I love the look of these socks.

Diana, that’s the way this yarn works. Self-striping yarns make the stripes and designs appear. I don’t think I’ve made any socks that used more than one yarn so anything you’ve seen on my socks as far as color changes, that was the yarn doing all the work.
Rebecca says
I’m so glad Diana asked that. I thought the color was working out TOO perfectly to be just one yarn!
On the other hand, I didn’t really see you “fiddling” with multiple yarns. Anyway, that looks fabulous!

I really like the pattern on your socks and the yarn is very nice too.

I have three inches left on the foot of the second sock I was working on and then I can start on the opal sock yarn. I only have one set of needles, so I need to finish one pair before I start the next one. I am tempted to get another set of needles, but that will increase my UFO ability!
That is a really interesting pattern! Beautiful work.

I love your sock pattern. I have ripped mine out 3 times, ugh! Will try again tonight….am really determined to make a pair this month. Keep encouraging me!
