The folks at the post office here, who are usually pretty nice, were not happy yesterday (and probably even less happy on Thursday). Seems as though Vince ordered a 4 ounce bottle of clove oil. Don’t ask me why. I do not know why. When I look at the orders he makes on Amazon, it scares me.
Clove oil . . think about how strong that might be! Think about how you would pack a glass bottle of oil to be shipped in 100+ degree weather. Not like this I’m guessing!
Thursday the mail lady put a pink slip in my box that said I had a package to be picked up and it said something I could not read. Yesterday I met her at the box and I asked if she had my package. She said “No! You have to go pick it up. It’s leaking!” Leaking?
All I was expecting was a box of yarn and I seriously doubted it was leaking. But I went to the post office. When I walked in and told the lady that I was there to pick up a leaking package, she yelled to the back . . SHE’S HERE FOR THAT PACKAGE! She was not happy with me but heck . . I didn’t stick the glass bottle in the envelope and mail it.
The top was broken. The bottom was broken. I can imagine that all the mail delivered in our county the past couple of days has smelled like cloves!
I was pretty aggravated with the folks who shipped it. There’s no excuse for doing something like that. Imagine if that dripping envelope had been next to a box of quilts or something like that!
I explained to the post office lady that it’s food grade clove oil . . not anything hazardous but she just wanted me to take my dripping package and get the heck out of there! I wanted to tell her she’d better be happy it was the clove oil and not the oregano oil Vince received last week. He talked me into putting a drop of that under my tongue (don’t ask questions) and I promise you I tasted oregano for 4 days! The minute it hit my mouth, I was hollering. I grabbed the first thing I saw in the fridge . . which was a cream soda. Yuck! I may never drink a cream soda again but it definitely was horrible with an overload of oregano.
The company is sending us a new bottle of clove oil and I surely hope they’re using lots of bubble wrap and a box this time. If I get another note to pick up a leaking package . . Vince is going to the post office . . alone!

I would think they would ship it in a plastic container, with room to expand and contract??? Maybe he is trying to make a concoction to keep snakes away?? We can only hope 🙂

Are you kidding me. They were mad at you. You should be mad at both the supplier and the post office. You are the customer. You pay both of them. Not only did you pay the shipping and packaging but you had to go into town and pick it up. They should be telling you how sorry they are. Sorry I will get off my soap box now.lol

According to one of my books, both oils are listed as antibiotic and antiviral. I wonder if Vince has been looking up remedies for insect and snake bites? Or maybe he found a recipe for scaring away these things from shoes and other hiding spots. Let us know what he plans to do with them!

I thought one could buy clove oil at the drugstore. Or at least one could when I was young- WAY back!!!

My health food store carries both of those oils.

The folks at the Brownwood Post Office have a reputation for being less than pleasant more often than not. I’m with Tinkerfeet. You are the customer and leaking or not, the rural carrier should have brought it to you. What did she think you were going to do by picking it up…. stop the leaking?!

I know that ANTS hate cloves and putting whole cloves out here and there will make ants disappear. Wonder if clove oil will get rid of snakes and spiders. PLEASE let us know what Vince had planned for that clove oil!!
Oregano oil is supposed to be a wonderful health remedy – for EVERYTHING – according to my brother! It is strong though! 🙂

You should see what people mail and how they mail it. Glass picture frames in flimsy shirt boxes with “Fragile” on it. Some of these parcels don’t get touched by human hands until they are delivered. Mounds of parcels and the machine only reads the postal code, not the fragile sticker. And then it’s at the bottom of the pile and for sure it’s crushed. Hopefully they had insurance on it but insurance can’t replace the picture that’s in the frame. We’ve had wine mailed, yes it’s legal to mail in Canada, you just have to be legal age to receive it, and those bottles broke. That was smelly in a good way. Duck wings mailed smell a whole different way! We try to do our best but sometimes the mailer has to do their best too.

Goodness it’s not your fault the package leaked! I take oil of oregano everyday and you do not take it straight! I put six drops in a swallow of liquid I like, and swallow it in one gulp. No taste at all. It really helps my sore bones from Fibro (dr. diagnosis) I can tell when I don’t take it. The Dr. is surprised that I don’t hurt much at all. I just don’t unless I don’t take it. It has to be Wild oil of oregano according to the alternative medicine lady who convinced me to buy my first bottle. Oregano along with coconut oil and we are good to go!

I love clove oil only I use it as a sort of perfume! Yes! I was sitting next to a woman on an airplane some time ago and she just smelled so good! Then she pulled out this tiny bottle and held it under her nose for a few seconds before putting it away. I asked her what smelled so good and she said oil of cloves was good for motion sickness and helped her a lot. Cool! I wear it mostly in the fall when everyone loves to smell this type of scent.

Oh, please, Judy, I am not commenting on Vince’s oil but on your blog page. Can you Please add a ‘next’ and ‘last’ key? Am I the only one who has to back out of the site totally so that I can click on the next post? Let me know if I’m doing something wrong….Lord knows I haven’t got a clue but, this is driving me crazy!

Both of those oils are very good for you, I use essential oils all the time. I would recommend this site for a good quality oil. Mybutterflyoils.com cedarwood oil is a great preventative for scorpions and ticks. My friend had a scorpion infestation (TX) and used the cedar wood to get rid of them.
