If you’re not a knitter, or not a Madelinetosh yarn fan, you probably will not understand my excitement about Mad May coming up, and you probably won’t understand how I spent almost all day deciding on my projects. Last night while bringing the newly found clothes to the house from the shop, I twisted my already bum right knee. All the garden stooping and squatting and bending has made my already bum left him worse so today I was going to water the garden, then do nothing else but sew . . until I went to the sewing room and saw all the boxes that had been deposited in there last night. Unpacking those would have meant more stooping, bending and walking and neither of my legs felt like doing that.
Knitting! That’s what I would spend the day doing. Til I remembered my Mad Tosh projects have not been determined. For those of you who think I can accomplish a whole lot . . you ought to see how well I can waste an entire day!
Here’s how Mad Tosh works. Starting May 1, using any Madelinetosh yarn, you can knit as much as possible til May 31. Anything finished that fits into their guideline/categories gets you entered for prizes. If you’re interested and are on Ravelry, go to the Madelinetosh Lovers Group and details are there.
So . . what did I decide to knit during Mad May?
One category is socks so I could make a pair of socks using Tosh Sock. I have plenty of that!
One category is a cowl. Any cowl. I think I’ll knit Honey Cowl using some Tosh DK I have here that I bought specifically for that cowl . . if I can find the yarn.
Another Mad May category is the Faberge shawl.
When I first read this pattern, I thought it wasn’t something I’d like but the more I see this made up, the more I wanted to make one. I ordered Madelinetosh Merino Light in Toast and Dusk. I might have ordered it in Clematis and Curiosity to make a second one . . later . . after Mad May, but I’m not saying I did or I didn’t. Maybe. 🙂 My friend, Denise, taught me about that beating around the bush and never coming right out and saying the truth language.
There’s another category for Scalene.
I ordered the same Merino Light in Afternoon and Terra.
Does anyone believe I will get a Honey Cowl, a Faberge, a Scalene and a pair of socks knitted in May? That’s what I thought but hey . . if I don’t try, I know I won’t get it done.

Given what is outside your little house (garden, coop, etc) and what’s inside your sewing area, it will rank as a definite challenge! I have learned that once you set your mind to something “stuff” happens!-D

I love that last one! If I lived somewhere cold enough to wear that, heck, I’d have to learn to knit!

You almost got me again…….. My finger reached to push the button to see just what you were getting into…. “I like those items too” myself said. But then I remembered all those projects in the attic waiting for me to finish them…….. I resisted…….. Please keep on tempting me because one day I may be able to join in……………..

ROFLOL – you have beat around the bush very well by “not saying” anything definite but I’m guessing you may have bought yarn for two more and not just one! I had not seen the Mad May stuff but I had been looking at both the Faberge pattern (aren’t there some gorgeous ones) and just yesterday came across the Scalene pattern which I really really like. Hmmm, I’m not saying I’m going to join May May OR order any new yarn but hmmmmm

Mad May (not may may) 🙂

Well, well, well…. I just HAPPEN to have 2 skeins of Madelinetosh Merino light (blue gingham and fathom) next to my handsewing chair, along with a different pattern, Catkin, by the same designer as the Scalene…. Hmmm, dare I jump into the Mad May fray?

Uh-oh!!! I am in trouble now!! How can I resist this challenge on ravelry. Even better is I have no Madelinetosh. What a great excuse to buy some. I can’t wait to see what i decide to knit. Of course I will plan way more than I can knit but that won’t stop me.
