You might think my husband dresses up and poses just for my blog but no . . this is truly how he lives his day to day life . . nothing special for the camera. I’m never making fun of him. He’s hilarious without even trying to be and I love him to death but sometimes, I have to bite my tongue just to keep from busting out laughing when I see him. He never knows why I’m laughing.
This afternoon we had to go to Home Depot for something . . we came home with lumber but that may not have been his main reason for going. Don’t ask me why he bought lumber because he’s working on the garden fence and that doesn’t involve lumber. I think he just can’t miss a Saturday without going to Home Depot for something.
He had been working in the garden all morning so he came in, took a shower, put on jeans and a T-shirt and we made our trip to town. When we got home, he changed back into shorts and went back out to the garden. I went out to bring him water and it was one of those bite-your-tongue-do-not-laugh-bite-harder-you-cannot-laugh moments!
I said “Why do you have on those shoes?” He said “So, I can wear them out and then buy some more!”
The other night he was telling me how comfortable they are (he says that about every pair of shoes he buys!) and he thought he might buy another pair (he always does that too!). I said “NO! You do not need to buy another pair now. When you need another pair, there will be some equally as comfortable and you can buy them then!” So, he’s going to hurry up and wear out the new ones so he can buy another pair.
Does that make sense to anyone other than Vince?

I don’t know if it makes sense, but it is very funny!!!!!

hahahaha love it!! I wear sandels with socks…..I do it because my feet are painful and shoes hurt….but I love the boots and shorts 🙂 especially with the white legs. Summer is coming Vince and I am sure those legs will soon be as tan as the texas soil!!! I think that I have passed the time of wearing shorts. Old ladies look better in long pants, I am afraid!!! Roflol, especially when wearing the sandels and socks in the rain 🙂 PS it never stops raining here!!!
Linda in NE says
Old ladies may look better in long pants, but in the heat & humidity of summer the closest I’ll be coming to long pants is capris. Actually, I’ve already come to the age where I really don’t care what it looks like to the fashion police if I’m comfortable & clean. And just as an idle question….have you noticed that too many times there only seems to be two choices in clothes—young & slutty or old ladyish? Makes it really hard when you don’t want to be either.
Doe in Mi says
Ya Linda, I’ve noticed that many a time. Slutty or old so no new clothes for me !!

My husband said, “That’s a great idea!

Probably some sound reasoning in there somewhere. Does Vince wear a suit to work??? or is this work attire too. 😉
What is the trench next to Vince??? Is this inside or outside the garden??? Do you just use those plastic ties to hold the netting on the pipes???
Hugs!!!!

Makes perfect sense to me, lol. I buy at least two of the same pair of shoes when I find a pair that is comfortable, but that doesn’t happen too often. Then I put them in the closet and don’t wear them because I don’t want to wear them out because then I won’t have any comfortable shoes. Makes about as much sense as Vince’s argument, right? 🙂

Baby rancher steps? Instead of boots he is starting out with high tops-roflmbo
come on Vince you need to come to the boot store and get you a good pair of *hit kickers for good ole TX boys
JudyL says
I’m not sure what the difference is in gardening in Missouri or Kentucky or Texas but he didn’t need cowboy boots to do it here so I doubt he needs cowboy boots to garden here. Just because we own the little ranch, doesn’t mean Vince will ever be doing cowboy work and I doubt he ever buys cowboy boots.
Erin says
I am laughing so hard I have tears running down my cheeks!! And can’t stop!! Thanks!!! You both are so darn cute!!!
Linda in NE says
I can see Vince’s point about the shoes. When you find something that really fits, is comfortable and you know you will wear it forever if you can, it makes sense to go back and get more while it’s still available. Sure as the world, when you wear the item out, you’ll have to search and search to find an adequate replacement. I’m going through that with a certain item of clothing right now and it isn’t any fun.
Donna says
Oh, Judy, All I can say is priceless!
But don’t get used to the boots because when that Texas summer hits he’ll be back in crocs… or that’s my prediction! Him and my husband dress about the same but there’s worse things they could do. (lol).
Carol Campbell says
At least those look more protective from snakes!
pdudgeon says
sorry, but from experience i’ll agree with Vince. not only is it wiser to buy 2 of something you like now, but if you wait to buy it later the price will have gone up, or the company will no longer exist!
a good case in point would be Oust room spray. I noticed that our cans were getting a bit low so i went looking for it. Not only do the stores not stock it, but if you can even find a can on the internet it sells for about $15.00, and that much again for shipping fees.
Books by a favorite author (no longer in print) are selling on Amazon for $200. Ten years ago that same book was $19.95
and while i’m thinking of it, since you have your own land, it might be a very good idea to look into getting a fuel storage tank for gasoline.
JudyL says
Not a good idea for Vince. He has probably 60 pairs of shoes he has never worn that he bought because he liked the first pair so much. There’s always a new pair he likes better. I’ve come to realize some things will disappear and some will stay but there’s no way I can buy all I’ll ever need of anything (except fabric and yarn) so I just embrace change.
Not sure why you’re recommending storing gasoline but I don’t see us doing that.
Angie says
Judy, Gas a provision on a farm or ranch that is needed to run equipment that you use frequently. Like tractors, chain saws, rototiller, mowers, weed eaters, blowers, the 4 wheel truck and generator in case of loss of power in a storm. Like you store food provisions just in case of an emergency, people that live out in the country also store some gas. It does not have to be a lot, but we always have at least 50 or more gallons of gas available for equipment use. I also never leave town and head for home without checking my gas tank and I don’t like letting it go below half a tank. I prefer to keep it at full.
Judy Laquidara says
In four months of playing with our tractor and RTV, we’ve not even used 1/4 of a tank of diesel in either of them. We have diesel cans filled but I doubt we ever fill them all again because we don’t use that much diesel. Our generators run off propane and we have a huge tank ordered. It’s the same propane we use for the house. The new bigger tank will replace our current tank. As far as the lawn mower . . we have cows! 🙂 There’s a very small part of our yard that has to be cut that the cows can’t do and unless things change a whole lot in this area, we’ll probably cut our grass twice this summer and we’ve already cut it once. Nothing grows with the drought unless we water.
I also never let my car get below half a tank but under normal driving, I fill my tank about once every 2 or 3 months. If things ever get to the point that we can’t get gasoline, we’ll be perfectly fine to stay home. We don’t store gasoline for our cars because today’s gasoline isn’t formulated to keep. Vince won’t even store gas for the lawn mower/tiller, etc. He uses stabilizer but still won’t keep it more than a month.
There are enough horses in this area that if we had no gasoline and truly NEEDED something from town, we wouldn’t have any trouble at all hitching a ride! 🙂
JudyCinNC says
At this rate, Vince really should not have to buy any shoes for a long while – he can dress for the cows every evening and every weekend and they won’t tell – got to love his sense of fashion. At least the fence is getting done. Judy C

Precious!!! I know about those “bite your tongue moments.” Sometimes, though, I have to unbite because my DH is planning to actually leave the house in whatever it is that is making me roll my eyes… and he’s only 43.. EEEK!
