The color for February is:
Violet
I think somehow I’m drawing all the harder choices first! Do you have much violet in your stash? I don’t think I do but I haven’t even looked yet. Remember that you can add white, ecru or black if you’d like. Don’t forget about this site that is great for helping choose colors.
If you’ve finished your January Monochromatic piece, please link to either your blog post or your photo here.

Should be some lovely quilts.

If you mean “purple”, my stash is probably 60% purple as are most of my quilts.

Boy did I luck out — I never come home for lunch. I hurried and posted and now I am out of here. I will be back this evening for the big show. Again, thanks for hosting.

Yeah! A color I have in my stash. Now what to do with it. I still have to finish my yellow first though. I’m trying not to create any more UFO’s. I do know that it will have to wait to be quilted unless I do it on my regular machine. We took the mid arm done to put hardwoods in and had to make some other repairs first.

Violet …. hmm, no violet in my stash, none. I’ll just sit back and watch you all this month! LOL

Violet….hmmmm….. I’ll make it work somehow!

I look forward to this one! This is the Assistant’s current favorite color.
Sue in Scottsdale, AZ says
I have my yellow top quilted and I am in the middle of putting on the binding. As soon as the binding is finished, I’ll post it to my Flickr site and link to it. Violet, huh, I don’t think I have any violet. I’ll have to go take a look!

I have a purple and white B-a-D block set that I think will work!

I think Violet is sooooo much better then yellow. I will think of the pattern tonight I try to start tomorrow.

I was planning on doing the January one, I made two blocks of the yellow (the size I was intending), even cut out a black and yellow butterfly to applique on the top. Then, I took said butterfly on vacation three weeks ago, and now cannot find said butterfly, and all previously cut out butterfly parts, even though I emptied out my purse, vacation bag, and even cleaned up my sewing room! Then, DH looked at the two yellow blocks that I had done, and said, “eeww, that’s awful”. Sadly my yellow quilt is unfinished by the end of January, but if I can find all the parts that are cut out, I may finish and hang it already.

Waaah… you were supposed to choose this later!!! lol I need to make a purple quilt for a friend. Guess I will be done This Month!! Hmmm. I was supposed to be Purple and green. and the pattern has white or off white. I wonder how I can make the monochromatic. I’ll have to think on this one!

yellow wasn’t too bad…lots of yellow selvages and scraps. but violet…sheesh. i have very little violet/purple. hardly any selvages that are purple. hmmmm….thinking…thinking….this month might be a bit harder. but i am up for the challenge. i can do it!!
Cheryl Willis says
I can’t wait to see what everyone got done. I hope to do my ‘colors’ as a series of blocks to make into a final top at the end of the challenge.
Mary C in WA says
My Yellow is almost done to the Flimsy Stage so I’ll have to start on the Violet one next week. But I can dream about the design in the meantime. Purple is in my Stash and I have some violet in there too.
Melinda in CT says
I didn’t think I had any violet in my stash but I forgot about a nickel swap of purples. So I’m going to sit with a stack of books and my binder of ideas to find a pattern to use with my purple nickels. But before I start that project, I must quilt the yellow top so I don’t add any UFOs to the list.
Dianne B. in England says
So many beautiful yellow projects! I’ve been trying to leave comments for everyone, but Blogger is not accepting my WordPress ID today, so I hope Judy doesn’t mind if I comment here to say how nice everyone’s work is. I really enjoyed looking at them all. 🙂

Hmm, I thought I didn’t have yellow and fared ok…I’m really sure I don’t have purple. We’ll see what’s in the bottom of my 2 big bins 😉
Toni says
Okay…finished! Violet is definately going to be smaller! Had to get this posted. Now I’m going to go back and look at others. Maybe I will get an inspiration for violet from other yellows! This was fun!
Connie says
Violet, I think this might be fun! Just got done washing all my fabrics and sorting them and I have a few.

I finished my January – yellow. Didn’t have much in my stash so I made a pillowcase. I also knew I wouldn’t have the time to make a quilt. If you want to see my pillowcase look check out – yellowbee1.

Violet is a hard stash one for me but I’m only doing blocks so I just might be able to pull it off!
Love your yellow quilt, Judy, and I’m amazed you were able to get it completely done in January. If only I had that kind of drive.
I also love that you donate so many to the charities. It’s inspiring. I’m off to see what everyone else has created now.
Cheers,
Beck

I look forward to reading every, single Design Wall Monday posting. But this Monochromatic Quilt of the Month–what wonderful quilts and projects! You have a real winner of a following here, Judy. Great idea for inspiring us all. Thank you!

Oh I can’t wait to look at the other quilts – thanks for this challenge. It was the kick in the butt I needed to get this quilt top done! Happy stitching —

I loved the challenge of just yellow so now purple ( or violet) I did a purple quilt for my daughter last spring Can I count that? You had to pick my least favorite color! I have a large stash but not of purples and violet only a few. Will see what I can do but I am not hopeful but I told myself I would do this to stretch my colors. Such Problems
Ann Marie says
Got the top and the back pieced, it isn’t quilted yet. But I did finish it……..at 11:30pm on the 31st the last seam went into the back. Talk about stretching it to the last minute. Oh and now onto a violet/purple one 😀
Kerstin says
I wasn’t planning on joining this challenge (too much on my plate right now) I happen to have a purple UFO waiting to be finished. Hopefully I can get it completely finished by the end of the month.

This was fun and I enjoyed it. I made a bright yellow and white tabletopper for my kitchen table and I love it. It sure brightens up the room.
I’m eager to choose my violets now for Feb and think of a pattern.

This was fun, My quilt is a twin size quilt and will be donated to AVIVA just before Christmas – it will make a nice gift for a child! Thanks for hosting this Judy. I’m already working on February.

I made a tiny stretching stars quilt for my living room!

I am not able to complete a whole quilt each month so I’m going to concentrate on one block each month and combine it with embroidery. It was really enjoyable trying embroidery again after so long, and going through my stash and surprising myself by finding a lot more yellows than I thought I had.
I’m really looking forward to choosing a pattern and finding violets in my stash.
Thank you so much for organising this challenge.

I did a mystery quilt on Superbowl Sunday and decided to do it in Violets. Hoping I could call it my monochromatic for the month. But today I re-read the rules and I think I may have broken then with this quilt so it may not count. LOL
I had one fabric with black background I used, then I ran out of violet so I used a gray as well. So I boo-boo’d and used two neutrals instead of just one. Unless gray is considered part of black being it is just a lighter shade?
I hope it is ok as I still am working on my January challenge color and I still need to add borders, etc. to my violet one. I don’t want to get to far behind. LOL
