Hour #5:
Dark Background:
Cut 5 – 2″ strips.
Sew the block rows and sashing rows together to make the center.
Border #1: Sew the 2″ strips together to make the first border strips. Sew the side borders to the top first. Press seam allowances towards the border fabric. Sew the 2″ strips to the top and bottom. Press the seam allowances towards the border fabric. The side borders should measure 2″ x 48-1/2″. The top and bottom border pieces should measure 2″ x 33-1/2″.
The top should measure 33-1/2″ x 51-1/2″, including seam allowances.

Thank-you Judy. I really like this pattern and it will be perfect to use up some of our bits and pieces that have been donated to our guild for community projects. It’s a nice easy do-able pattern for our newest quilters and the kids at the Youth Shelter will love it in bright colours.

You call for the border strips to be the dark background, but your graphic makes it look like it should be the light background. I’m just wanting to check — is it the words or the diagram which is correct?
Thanks!

If you’re talking about the photo on today’s post, I believe what you’re seeing is the frame that WordPress puts around the photo. If you look at the actual quilt, you’ll see it’s the dark background fabric for the first border.
