Hour #4:
Colored Fabric: (different or the same fabric – doesn’t matter too much)
Cut 2 – 2-1/2″ squares.
From Dark Background:
4 – 1-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ strips
4 – 1-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ strips
From two different colored fabrics, make two sets:
2 – 1-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ strips
2 – 1-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ strips
Step 1: Sew a 1-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ dark background strip to two opposite sides of a 2-1/2″ background square. Press seam allowances towards the dark background fabric. Make 2.
Step 2: Sew a 1-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ dark background strip to the remaining sides of the background square. Press seam allowances towards the dark background fabric.
Step 3: Sew a 1-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ colored strip to two opposite sides of the Step 2 unit. Press seam allowances towards colored fabric.
Step 4: Sew a 1-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ colored strip to the two remaining sides. Press seam allowances towards colored fabric.
Make 2 blocks.
Sew a sashing block from Hour #3 to two opposite sides of these two blocks. Make 2 sashing rows.
