It’s our next to last installment of the Back to Square One Mystery! For those who are up to date and sharing pictures, they’re beautiful! I hope you’re all happy with them.
For November, we’re going to work on a pieced border using the blocks from September and October.
First, using the log cabin blocks from September, sew them together in groups of 2 as shown. Make 12 sets.
Sew together the star blocks from October with the log cabins. Make 4 border strips as shown below.
Add an extra star block to both ends of two of the border strips.
Sew the two shorter strips to the sides of the top and the two longer strips to the top and bottom of the top as shown below.
Your top should now measure 80-1/2″ x 80-1/2″, including seam allowances.
If you’re up to date through the October clue, please share a picture. On Tuesday I will draw for the winner . . who will receive a Stash Pack from Vicki Welsh’s Etsy Shop. When you need (or want) hand dyed fabric, please remember Vicki . . who sponsors this Mystery.

I believe this is one of the prettiest quilts you have ever designed. I was unable to do the mystery with everyone, but I would love to make it in the future.
Speaking of hand dyed fabrics, I made and sold them for years. I absolutely love HD fabrics. Vicki makes beautiful fabric and has a wonderful eye for mixing colors. Since I have tons of HD of my own I haven’t bought any from her, but it will be doing that soon. She has color combinations that are….well I could gush on and on.
I’m so glad y’all did this. Thanks!

It does make an absolutely beautiful border, but what a great quilt top it would also make!

I just love this top and the borders are really making the quilt. I have shied away from too many borders as fear of them not fitting is always on my mind. You patterns are easy to understand as you guide us. Thank you many times over.Dana
