Guest Room Makeover Post 2

With a couple of printed paint palettes exported from Sherwin-Williams ColorSnap Studio™ for iPad®, I made my way to our local Sherwin-Williams store.

The gentleman who waited on me was most helpful. He helped me find several color chip cards from my palette to compare to the pillow I had brought into the store.

My mind was pretty much made up that I wanted to use the Ligonier Tan but I wanted to be double sure so the salesmen very patiently went through 6 or 8 other options with me before I said . . . that’s it . . . I want the Ligonier Tan!

Painted Bedroom

The room is painted! We used HGTV® HOME by Sherwin-Williams. The only thing Vince specified was that it cover with one coat and it did. We probably shouldn’t discuss how well it covers carpet when spilled on the floor! 🙁 Using the pillow and matching bed rug as the focal point, and using the palette generated by ColorSnap Studio for iPad, I was able to find accessories for the room. As a quilter, the first priority was something for the bed. The quilt shop ladies found ColorSnap Studio for iPad quite interesting and we chose these fabrics for a quilt, which unfortunately, isn’t finished yet.

Finding great coordinating accessories was a “snap” using the palettes generated by ColorSnap Studio for iPad.

The sunshine face is one I had already but had never found a good place in this house to hang it. I love it hanging over the sewing machine. The pin cushion on the sewing machine is one a friend made for me several years ago.

Additional Decor

I love this “new” room! It would eventually have gotten painted, and that’s probably all that would have been done in there, but with Sherwin-Williams ColorSnap Studio for iPad, it was fun choosing the color for the walls, and it was fun choosing the decorations and accessories for the room! Thank you, Sherwin-Williams, for creating the color selection tools to help non-decorators like myself create beautiful spaces.

  7. My sewing studio needs a redo! It hasn’t been painted since the builder’s grade blah — I mean beige, that’s 13 years old. We are putting Pergo on the floor soon, because the nubby carpet is stained beyond cleaning.   8. Everything needs to be redone, except the sewing room – I did that a few years ago – a nice sunny yellow that I bought from Sherwin-Williams.

  11. I am in the process of repainting my daughter’s old room and turning it into a guest room. I used Sherwin-Williams paint on it and was very impressed that it covered in one coat as the walls were a deep purple and gold stripe before. I am using a pale blue so I thought one coat was never going to work. So glad it did. The next room with be the bright purple bathroom attached to the newly painted guest room.

  13. I need to repaint our master bedroom. It’s the only room in the house that hasn’t been repainted since we built our house over 20 years ago. I love those fabric colors==can’t wait to see the quilt!

  20. Narrowing down to one room, is a tough choice as all but a couple need to be repainted (it’s been over 25 yrs for some!), I would have to choose the master bedroom. It’s sad, very sad, with old Navajo White that is looking really dingy and tired.

  29. The one room in our home that I have never gotten around to decorating is the master bedroom. Isn’t that a sin? All of the downstairs is done because “people SEE those rooms” when they come over. The kids’ bedrooms were decorated because kids grow up so fast and I didn’t want to miss my chance to do something special with their favorite colors and themes. But our own bedroom is still that awful pinkish-white flat builder’s paint, with no window treatments and only one lamp to (barely!) light the room. We really need to get some can lights installed, paint the room a fresh, soothing pale blue, and hang some curtains. That gloomy cave of a bedroom is the first thing I see when I open my eyes in the morning, and the last thing I see before I go to sleep every night!

  30. This is just a dream, but I would love to make over my own bedroom. It seems to always be on the back burner.

  39. i’ve never been a fan of “southwest” but with this color palette it is so much more dramatic and pleasing. our home was new when we moved in 7 years ago, so having dh paint was out of the question. but now it would be easier to freshen it up a bit with a nice coat of paint! and spring is the perfect time.

  51. I dare not say how long it’s been since the rooms in my house have been painted…too long. It is high up on the “to do” list. I do know that the folks at Sherwin-Williams amazingly helpful/knowledgeable. My daughter needed advise and they were wonderful.

  57. I have found the salespeople at Sherwin-Williams to be extremely helpful. I haven’t tried the Color Snap app, but I do use Chip It! often.

  70. Love the new bedroom! Southwest was my theme of choice for many years. Now I want a relaxing, stress-free beachy look. The room I’m slowly working on is my bedroom/sewing room. My favorite color is purple so instead of white with blue accents I thought about a light silvery gray with purple accents. The furniture will be mostly black with a wood piece or two. Sure would like help with my makeover.

  72. Love love love Sherwin Williams paints! We recently had our porch and deck refurbished and specifically requested their stains be used. My hall/guest bathroom has hunter green calico wallpaper that needs stripping and would love to repaint with a soft light aqua Sherwin Williams paint.

    I want and need to make over my kitchen. It’s out of the 1950s, and still has the metal cabinets that were here when we bought the house 29 years ago. It needs doing from the floor up!!

  108. I would love to makeover my son’s old bedroom. He moved out on his own last September. The walls are light yellow, but there are scuffs where on one wall, where his TV stand rubbed against the wall. My recently acquired Singer 201 in a walnut cabinet took the TV stand’s place. I have a Sherwin Williams fan deck that our painter gave me last summer. He painted the outside of our house.

    Not sure what color I might choose, but I love decorating my home!. Hope I win!

  109. Many areas in my home need paint–the chicken coop, while not exactly IN my house, probably needs it the worst. But, I would love to have paint for the kitchen. Anything but dull taupey white.

  121. Oh, I would love to paint my kitchen. Ours is a rental, but I don’t think the owners would mind at all. The kitchen is green, which is fine with me, but it is an ugly green. I actually got s free paint sample a few years ago, but haven’t yet talked the hubster into painting!

  124. Choosing colors for a quilt, no problem but when it comes to colors for decorating, I’m really challenged. The app that lets you coordinate accessories to the wall color looks so cool. I’ll have to check it out next time I paint a room.

If I had the $$ I would love to make over my master bath which happens to be on the third floor of the house – our loft bath as I call it. Its still done in 1970’s lime green complete with shag carpeting – grin!

  133. wish I had and Ipad so I could do that. I love red and yellow.. I’ve noticed hen you have those colors around everyone is happy and hungry.. I’ve tried blue and it makes me sad and depressed. I’ve got a version of tanish beige with red, yellow and green accents. Would like to use this application to see what my outside house would be .Now this is to much information but oh well.

  160. I need to redo my spare room. It was previously used by my son and then as a craft room but it has become overrun with unorganized crafts and storage. It needs a major overhaul.
