The Sunny Side Up Quilt Along will begin on May 1 and the first instructions will be posted in the afternoon on May 1 due to the Back to Square One instructions being posted in the morning. Instructions will be posted on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
Here are the yardage requirements but this is a great scrappy project. The background could be scrappy. Any part of it could be scrappy. These fabric requirements are for using the same fabric for the background, the same light or dark gold throughout. In the first one that I made, I used several different dark golds for the stars, but I used the same light and dark golds for all the chain blocks and I used the same dark gold in the center of all the stars.
Background: 3-5/8 yards (and I think that is generous)
Light Gold: 3/4 yard
Dark Gold: 3 yards
If you’re making the patriotic version . .
The background would be the same (3-5/8 yards) and you would need a variety of dark blues. You would need one yard of red.
This top finishes at 65″ x 83″.
The yardage measurements do not include backing or binding fabrics.

I’m going to have to do this one. I’m going to make the patriotic version for now, of course, but someday I’d like to make the yellow version, because it IS very sunny, and because I’ve never made a yellow quilt.

Starting on May 1st? YEA! That means that i can pencil this quilt in for one of my quilts to make in May.
Sounds like a winner to me. I’ll probably be doing something scrappy for this quilt, because i have a fat quarter tower of fabric that’s not designated for anything specific yet, and i can easily pair that with some neutrals from the stash. Sounds like a winner to me!

Gosh darn it. I think that settles it. I’m going to go get myself a small table so that when I plunk myself down in the chair for the evening, I can just sit and sew. I keep moving the sewing machine around, but I really need to have it right where I rest my lazy carcass at the end of the day! I love this quilt and I’d like to sew along with you. Let’s see how far I get. I’d bet I have enough stash to make one!

I plan to make the patriotic one. Looks beautiful in either version.
