Summer is my least favorite season. It's my own fault but there's so much to do with the garden and with canning and putting up as much produce as I can so we'll have homemade goodies through the winter. I got a big bag of pickling cucumbers so I've been making pickles. I surely don't want any of those to get bad and have to get thrown out. I love these Red Hot Cinnamon Pickles. Some ...
Sweet Potato Greens in Coconut Cream
My guess is that not many of you are eating sweet potato leaves several times a week like we are right now but if you ever want a really good recipe, I made this dish yesterday. It was so delicious. Vince really loved it but I loved it too. I started with this recipe - Sweet Potato Greens in Coconut Cream. But, I didn't follow the recipe so much. Here's what I added: 2 boneless, ...
Another Visitor
You may remember when we first got here and we had a visitor who apparently slept on our front porch and changed his clothes . . ALL his clothes . . very early the next morning and either hadn't noticed or didn't care that we had cameras. He sat down, on the steps, ate a package of crackers, picked up all his stuff, even the cracker wrapper, and left. We didn't know til we looked at the camera ...
A Garden Update

We may bring another rack out of the greenhouse and spread this out a little so it will dry faster. I have some across the stainless sink unit. If we bring out the other shelf, I can have my sink back. I use that for washing veggies before I bring them ...
Some of Our Plants
Two years ago we planted quite a few native food type shrubs. I think this is nannyberry. I made a map and counted down the plants but a couple of them have died and I'm not sure now if this is a nannyberry or not. If it wasn't a nannyberry, it would be a gooseberry and the leaves don't look like gooseberry leaves but . . if you know what this is for sure, I'd be happy to learn. Maybe once ...
Perspective
Today, I got a good lesson in perspective, of sorts. Vince had something he wanted to do in Neosho today so I went along for the ride. He asked if I wanted to go to the flea market there. He said "It's Chad's favorite flea market!" You have to understand Chad has never been in a flea market he didn't love so my expectations were not real high but I agreed to go. When we walked in, I knew I ...
