I had a debate with myself about whether to finish MH 1860 or finish Love is the Key. I decided that if I put MH 1860 away, it would become another WIP/UFO so I would stick with it and finish it, then finish Love is the Key. By starting MH 1860, which you may remember I started last week to test Vikki Clayton’s new linen, and since MH 1860 is small and would be a fairly fast finish, it gave me a new start which I was really wanting to do, and it gave me a chance to test Vikki’s linen, which I LOVE, and if I finish it, which I should do by the end of the weekend, then it won’t get added to my WIP list. Pretty good thinking, right?
This project is testing my ability to follow a chart, no matter how “off” it may be.
First, you will notice nothing beneath the alphabet is centered. This was probably done by a young girl or, maybe an adult who pays as much attention as I do sometimes. The “1860” is centered under the large space between the T and the U and the end everything else is centered under that but NOT centered on the piece. It would have been easy to fix and I almost changed it but then I told myself “No! Stitch it like the original!”
I think I’m going to make some changes though:
- Leave off the top heart on the right side and put the “M” above the “H”. It looks too crowded on the left side.
- Stitch the heart on the left where the “M” should have been.
- Leave off the blue crown looking thing on the left (above the rabbit.
- That giant green rabbit on the bottom left. Not so sure about that. I thought about changing it to a dachshund. Maybe. I could also leave the giant bunny off and put my initials and the year there but the giant bunny is so weird, I might miss him if I don’t stitch him.
- The two flower pots – the one on the right seems to be centered under the berry basket but the one on the left isn’t. I’m going to move those flower pots over to leave a space or two between the house and the flowers so it will end up that neither of the flower pots are centered beneath the berry baskets.
Should I stitch the green bunny, swap him out for a dachshund or put my initials and the year there?

I would stitch the green bunny. He is just too cute to leave off.

I’d stick with the green bunny as you’re following about 95% of the pattern as shown. You expect to see a bunny with the flowers, etc. Although your dachshunds are everywhere in the backyard garden, aren’t they? Just like our terrier – she has a mind of her own & if its not HER idea she’s going to ignore my ‘commands’ and go about her business. Second thought – either one would be cute! Deb

Thank you for confirming that my dogs are “normal”. 🙂 And, thanks for your thoughts on the green bunny. I may move him over to the right and stitch a dachshund on the left. The bunny won’t (hopefully) appear so LARGE on the right and it will look like the dachshund on the left is chasing him, which is what we know would be happening.

I would take EVERYTHING under the A-Z alphabet and move it to the right. But keep all. If you look at the border at the bottom the rabit on the left is crowded but there is a lots of space left over on the far right, where the birds are. Leave the basket of red flowers where it is, and that all the stuff under it should line up.
