Since I’m in the making changes to cross stitch charts mood today, I’ve been thinking about the houses in A Sampler For All Seasons.
I don’t take it lightly when I change colors in a chart. The designers have great taste in color, especially designers like Tanya at The Scarlett House. But . . the white floss for the bottom left house hardly shows up on my linen, which came in the kit. It is lighter than the linen seems in the photo. When I’ve tried to stick with the called for colors in other charts, knowing it was maybe not going to show up, I’ve been disappointed. If I use a darker linen so the white will show up, some of the tans don’t show up so . . I’m probably going to change the house on the bottom left. I’m assuming the four houses represent the four houses so that’s the summer house. The floss is NPI Silk and I don’t have any of that in my stash so I ordered a few extra colors last night.
I’ll probably go with the 631 or 531 instead of the white house. I’ll probably stitch the picket fence in a light tan — I know . . picket fences are supposed to be white but these people liked the real wood color! 🙂
The spring house (top right) may get switched to 601 because I like purple houses and don’t know that I want those two houses on the right to be so similar in color.
I’m a long way from stitching houses on this project but I’m thinking ahead.
