My plan was to spend the entire day stitching but that’s my plan most every day and you know how that goes. This morning I took our sheets off the bed, put them in the washer and sat down to start stitching. Vince said “Could we have blueberry pancakes for breakfast?” I wanted to say “Sure, let me know when they’re ready!” but that wouldn’t be very nice.
Can I say one more time how much I love my stove? I had gotten so used to having the gas stove in Texas that even after having had glass tops for 15 years and complaining constantly about them, I think I lost my appreciation for the gas stove I had but then, a year with the glass top again and I want to remind myself every day how happy I am to have gas and how blessed I am to have been able to (1) convince Vince to do it and (2) get it.
Rita’s egg in the skillet in the back, pancakes on the griddle and bacon in the Dutch oven (I use that with the high sides to reduce platters).
I keep forgetting and I think I’ve done it every time but I put the Dutch oven on the right and since I’m right handed and it’s a bit tight there with the griddle in the middle and the Dutch oven on the right, it makes it hard to flip the pancakes because the Dutch oven is in the way. I always use that burner with the DO but I need to remember to put it on the left front when using the griddle so it won’t be in my way of flippng things.
Blueberry pancakes have been served. The kitchen is clean. Clean sheets are back on our bed. Now I can stitch.
I just remembered it’s Sunday and I should be stitching on my Sunday stitch but I’m not. So much for strict plans! 🙂

I have questions on the griddle in the middle. My gas stove came with it and I’ve had no luck.
1. How low do you set the heat for it?
2. How long do you let it heat up?
I think I’m just not going about it right because it works great for you!

I don’t know what kind you have. Is it cast iron? Mine is a Lodge cast iron griddle that I’ve had for years. What kind of problems are you having? Uneven heat?
My gas stove in Texas had an oblong burner in the middle and it went from front to back, but stopped a few inches short of the front and back so there were spots on each end that never got truly hot. The new stove has three burners across the front and three burners across the back. The knobs for the center burners have settings to use the burners as regular burners and settings to use the griddle so I get much more even heat.
I will turn both the front and back burners on, heat it up til I can see that it’s starting to smoke, then oil it (I use grapeseed oil), let it heat up til that is smoking (or til the smoke alarms in the house start going off), then, I turn off the burners and let it cool down til it’s not cold but no longer smoking. Then I take a stick of butter, rub it all around the top of the griddle, let it heat back up just a bit (NOT til it smokes) pour out my pancake batter and I think you can see from the picture that I get very even cooking. The pancakes on the far front and far back cook at the same speed as the pancakes in the middle.
If you have more questions, let me know.

Thank you. Mine is Kitchen Aid and has the oblong burner in the middle. It came with a cast iron griddle that fits right over it.
I’ll play with it some more. It would be great to use that!

Good luck with it. I love those griddles for making sandwiches, pancakes, toasting a bunch of bagels at one time, etc.
