Maybe “progress” isn’t the right word. Don’t judge . . please! (1) I know many of you would have given up on this project but I am determined to finish at least some part of it. (2) No doubt, some of you are going to think I’m nuts for ripping that top border all the way out because of ONE stitch.
Last night I finished — not really “finished” but I got the top bunting row far enough along that I could see where it would start and end. I have the center line of the border marked. I started stitching in the center of the red star. I had to work out that the two rows would be perfectly centered.
But . . it didn’t. I counted stitches and counted stitches. There had to be a mistake somewhere but there wasn’t. The center of the border was exactly the center of the motif.
It was well after midnight and I said ok . . all I have to do is move that top border over ONE stitch and everything will be centered. I ripped the right half of the border out. I’m going to re-stitch it and keep my fingers crossed that it ends where I want it to end. If that works, I’ll rip out the other half and re-stitch it.
By the way, this issue is not because of the design. I’m “re-designing” as I go and obviously, not doing a great job!
If that right half doesn’t work out after re-stitching . . this project is definitely going into time out.

It is very strange to me that the artist intentionally avoided symmetry. The eye will see it and I’m so with you on needing that! Bless you for your patience and perseverance to do this. I’d have given up!

I admire you for sticking with this chart. After the dream, who could blame you!! I’m a symmetry person too unless it’s blatantly obvious it’s not supposed to be. In fact, while stitching the Sunday Eliza stitch it kind of bothered me that the letters aren’t spaced properly in the box. I thought about changing it but since I only thought about it after I had stitched the first row and then ripped out half the row and restitched it, I decided to leave it…wondering if I should fix the rest or leave it. Thinking leaving it would be fine since Sunday stitching is supposed to be relaxing! Anyway….keeping fingers crossed that it all works out they way you want! PS…wondering if something is in the air as this morning I was working on the Gratitude (Lizzie Kate) chart and I saw I had misplaced a leaf. Thankfully it’s only a small thing but I’m hoping that’s the last of the ripping I’ll need on that chart!!

Is this the same chart Denise was complaining about all the errors in? The lack of symmetry would drive me nuts too! I probably would have tossed the whole thing.

Yes. I’ve taken it on as a personal challenge, at least for now! 🙂

Can you not sub another type border for that one? I’d be bat crazy by now!

No matter what border I use, I’ll have to center it and probably adjust the corners, as well as make changes to make the border fit length and width.
