On March 25, in this post I talked about two pieces of speckled linen I ordered. One was described as “Not for the faint of heart”. I was expecting it to be more wild.
It was described as smelling strongly of coffee and having crusty bits. The Kitten Stitcher also said you could request “a REALLY splotchy piece or one that is less so” and went on to say “all o fit is pretty darn splotchy”. I didn’t make any special requests and since I’m not a regular customer, maybe she sent me a more tame piece. I love it but I would have loved more splotchy also. I think I have a project in mind for at least part of this piece. It is dyed by Dames of the Needle.
The second one, also from Kitten Stitcher, is dyed by my favorite, XJuDesigns.
This is another 36 count linen and the color is Early Halloween.
Love them both. I need to stitch faster so I can use more of these gorgeous linens!

I now have to buy cross stitch linen and make it messy. I love doing this! Doing rust dyeing of cotton sometimes resulted in holes in the cotton, even a long time after you take the metal off the fabric. The rust just eats the fabric away. It makes such good messy fabric though. I haven’t done coffee dyeing, so will have to try it.
