The Texas House

Punch Needle Anyone?

The realtor came out today and took pictures. I was expecting the listing to show up online in a couple of days but it showed up tonight. I’m happy to be getting closer to getting Vince here but oh, it’s hard seeing the garden area, the chicken coops, the greenhouse. There were a few tears but the decision to move to Missouri . . I know it was the right decision for us.

I think three showings were scheduled before the house had been listed for an hour. Poor Vince . . he’s going to have people in and out for the next several days.

Hopefully someone will come along who loves the things we loved and if they have grandkids, they’ll live nearby so no one is torn like I was about staying there or being near their loved ones. I know not everyone wants to be close to family but I do and I am . . so I’m happy . . but I still may cry when the house sells.

Progress for you at last. Out of interest here in New Zealand there is a huge housing shortage, so of course the prices are climbing every week. Every home listed has dozens of people looking and are usually sold within 10 days or even sooner. The average 3 bedroom ordinary home on a 1 8th of an acre in a large city sells for just under 1 million dollars. We have floods of people coming back to NZ every week to escape Covid as we have been relatively free of it. Makes it so hard for young people trying for a first home – investors snap them up as bank interest rates are very low and we don’t have a capital gains tax.

That does make it hard or young people and lower income folks. I’ve lived where similar things have happened – not quite that bad, but it doesn’t usually last forever and people paying those prices often get stung. Timing is everything in a market like that and it’s almost always a gamble. But, it is nice that y’all have mostly been spared this Covid tragedy. I hope it continues to be so for y’all.

Not much you can do. I think, especially since it’s out of town a ways, that the potential buyers’ realtors do a bit of screening.

Wishing you a speedy sale – I know you’re anxious to get Vince to MO. Our daughter & her family moved from Rockwall Texas to Ohio this past August – within 3 days of putting their TX house on the market it sold over asking price. Same thing happened to my brother – they moved from MO to SC – MO house sold the first w/e it was listed. These are crazy times for anyone looking to buy a home – great sellers market.

I’m so excited for you! I pray it sells quickly and that Vince is soon in Missouri with you! Then Texas will be in the rearview mirror and you can really start your life in your beautiful new home!

Yes! I should take bets on how long after he gets here before I’d like to send him back to Texas for a while. 🙂

Wonderful that the Texas house is now on the market! Hope it sells in the blink of an eye and Vince will be in Missouri with you in no time. Loving couples deserve to be together. ??????

I was telling a friend this morning that when we were younger, forever seemed like a very long time. Now, especially with Covid, I feel every day we’re not together, we’re missing out on some of the best part of our life.

Wishing you and Vince all the best and hoping that the house sells SUPER QUICKLY.

I think there are always bittersweet feelings when moving. BUT, you’ll always have the memories from all the moves and, of course, there are always new memories to be made.

You’re so right. Except for one move that made many years ago, before Vince, I have always been excited about our moves and am glad that change doesn’t bother me. I can’t imagine making moves that I didn’t want to make. As I was looking at the pictures of our place in Texas and remembering all we’ve done there, I was thankful to be near Addie because that has made giving up the place in Texas so worthwhile.

I think your house will sell fast. Look at all you have to offer in a great set up for someone. I miss Vince too and your stories together.

You put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into that property. You wouldn’t be human if you didn’t cry at letting it go. It represents ten years of your life.
