New Year’s Day Cross Stitch

Ice, Snow & Fireworks

I’ve learned through the Flosstubes that it is required . . by someone . . that we start a new project on New Year’s Day. Who knew? 🙂

I spent half or more of yesterday trying to decide what to start. I want to start the marriage one but have so few of the colors of floss needed.

Then I thought about doing this one:

It looks fun and happy. I must have ordered the floss as a kit because I had almost all of that but not really a fabric I need. I have a lot of small pieces but this one needs to be at least 20″ in one direction.

Then I decided to do this one:

I love what it says and hope you can read it but I can’t even remember if it was floss or fabric that kept me from starting this one.

In the end, I chose this one:

It’s not big and . . well, the house looks kinda easy and the grass looks easy. Those shrubs . . I may have to take the chain saw to them. 🙂

I found fabric and all the floss except one color and once I look at that color on the internet, I can probably just sub something else. I have some basic colors and some muted colors . . I’ll see what I can do.

At least I’ll start something!

Is this what we used to call counted cross stitch? I guess I’d say ‘no’. Similar but different.

I believe the difference between cross stitch and counted cross stitch if you are stitching on an even weave fabric or not. Going off my memory so I could be recalling incorrectly.

I might have started my NYD stitching a wee bit early – just before midnight – working on Snow Sampler. I love all the star designs in the one you chose to do – especially in the shrubs.

So glad you started this! I love the pattern. I may get started on something soon. I have two or three things to finish.

I love the saying on the “Seeking Refuge” one. They’ll all be beautiful!
