The last thing I ever expected was for Boots to be like an attachment to Vince. It’s kinda comical! Vince goes to the bathroom. Boots sits outside the door and meows one of those “I’m dying” meows that I can’t stand. Vince goes downstairs . . Boots is right on his heels.
Yesterday Vince was doing something downstairs and I walked down. I knew he was in the downstairs garage because Boots was sitting right by the door with his nose right up against the door.
Last night Vince was sitting on the sofa. Boots was sitting on his lap . . that’s what I wanted to do with Boots! After while Boots got up on the back of the sofa and had his tail down Vince’s neck.
I told Vince . . now I need a dog AND a cat of my own. He said “What if you get them and they like me better?” My luck . . that’s what would happen.
The real reason . . I think is that Vince does no discipline. Boots would have eaten the entire tree by now if Vince was here alone with him. He’d be spending his days on the dining room table. Rita would eat every time Vince walked into the kitchen! I only feed her at certain times during the day . . not every time she THINKS she’s hungry.
The other day Nicole walked into the house. I was in the kitchen and she said “You’ve lost so much weight!” I said “Who are you talking to?” (hoping it was me!) and she said “Rita! She looks so good!” She has lost weight and no longer looks like an overstuffed sausage. I’m not sure Boots has lost weight yet. I still don’t feel ribs.
Both the dog and cat seem happy. We’ll see how Boots reacts when Vince leaves. I never thought I’d be worried about him having separation anxiety when Vince isn’t around. Crazy world these days!

Maybe, Boots just wants to make sure that Vince hurries up and comes back?!?!?
Animals are so funny – they can be very fickle – keeps one on their toes all the time.

Same here! …especially those fickle cats!! There was a stray in the area, obviously a young cat. We live in the woods. It took me awhile but I made friends with him. He was afraid of my husband. I brought him in, we had him neutered, and now he’ll barely even acknowledge me…hangs all over my husband! Dogs aren’t much better, although my GSD will still curl up and sleep on the ottoman when I sit in my chair.
I attribute it all to the fact that my husband is retired and I still leave the house to work everyday. Even still, it makes me kinda sad.

Same here. Cats and dogs just love men. I think it is the dominance of a male animal and men are the dominate ones. Right now I am living with my Mother and have my two dogs here with me but not the cats. Dogs really come right to my husband when her comes over and make a lot over him However I do admit that my older dog gets down to follow me if I leave the room. It really is funny.

Just like with human parents – the dad is always the FUN parent and mom is the disciplinarian.

True!

I think Boots will be fine while Vince is gone. I believe he will get closer to you also. I think it is the person that feeds them and gives them treats that gets the most love!
Judy Laquidara says
That would be me but I am getting ignored!
Nelle Coursey says
Well that is not fair!! You do all the work and he gets all the attention!
Jenny says
Maybe Boots is afraid Vince will not take him back to Texas with him. Ha,ha, love cats.
Judy Laquidara says
Since Vince is flying, I think t’s a given that Boots is not making the trip back.

I was wondering how Boots was adjusting to the move. Molly Mae loves me best most of the day but she loves Donnie more early morning when she wants fresh food! I just wish she wouldn’t share so much of her fur.
